Bring ‘Resident Evil 4’s Camera Into ‘Resident Evil VII’ With This Mod

While we’re still waiting on Resident Evil Village (let’s be honest and say anything at this point related to the game would be awesome), since it’s that time of year, you’ll probably want to revisit the game that re-vitalized the series in Resident Evil VII. And while this new mod eliminates some of the scares, it does harken back to the original game that originally re-vitalized the series in Resident Evil 4.

Courtesy of the kind folks at Residence of Evil, a new mod created by cheezeit over at Nexus Mods reworks the 1st person camera of REVII, and turns it into an over-the-shoulder 3rd person camera that’s immediately reminiscent of RE4‘s camera.

It’s not a simple one-trick script, however. Not only is the mod completely functional from the beginning of the game to its end, you can also adjust how far behind or to the side you want it to be. The script also includes an option to automatically disable third-person in situations that would be better suited to first person. Heck, it can be assigned hotkeys as well to toggle third-person manually during game play.

Now as mentioned, some purists will find this an affront to the original game, but hey, it’s an experiment, and you can always toggle it. To get the cheat working, you’ll need to install fluffyquack’s Mod Manager. It’s also recommended that you install a second mod that changes Ethan’s model to include a Head, since he normally doesn’t have one.

Resident Evil Village is due out next year for PlayStation 5, PC and Xbox Series X.
