‘Ion Fury’ Expansion “Aftershock” Arriving This Summer For PC, Consoles

Published

on

Fans of Voidpoint’s 2019 throwback shooter Ion Fury (which we loved) will finally get that expansion that was announced last year during the Realms Deep showcase. Called “Aftershock”, the expansion will arrive later this summer for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam.

In a press release, 3D Realms CEO Mike Nielsen says that Aftershock continues Ion Fury‘s story “with rockets and high-speed chases”, aka the best way possible to continue the story. “We love seeing the Build engine continue to grow and Ion Fury: Aftershock does some awesome things that we can’t wait to share with you.”

The story for Aftershock sees protagonist Shelly Harrison having finally defeated Heskel in the original game, and is in the process of celebrating at a local bar. Of course, that doesn’t last long as Heskel shows up again, and Shelly must now gear up and finish him off.

In addition to new levels, weapons, vehicles and other goodies, Aftershock offers a new Arrange mode, which switches up the original game to include said new enemies, weapons and more.
