‘Amnesia: Rebirth’ Receives Free Adventure Mode Update, New Dev Diary

Published

on

We enjoyed Frictional Games’ Amnesia: Rebirth (and so should you) when it was released last year. And now Frictional are taking a bit of time away from their next project with a new update to Amnesia: Rebirth in the form of an Adventure Mode!

While it admittedly is catering to the non-horror crowd with its lack of monsters and scares, the new Adventure Mode does allow players to explore the story of the game and solve its puzzles, without the “added stress”. This also includes removing some of the sounds and visual effects that would elevate your fear levels in the game.

“The game still has its very serious theme and sometimes unnerving ambiance, but the new mode feels a lot more like an Indiana Jones type of adventure in places where it would otherwise be more of a horror experience,” explains Frictional Games’ Creative Lead Fredrik Olsson.

“We believe that anyone who loves a good story-driven adventure game will be stoked about this new mode. Not everyone is into horror and we don’t want that to block people from experiencing Tasi’s story,” comments Fredrik. “We did something very similar when we released the Safe mode for SOMA. It was extremely well received and opened up the game to a much broader audience, something we hope will happen with Rebirth as well.”

In addition to the new update, prospective players can also enjoy a 40% discount for the title on Steam, GOG.com and the Epic Games Store until April 13th.

Amnesia: Rebirth is available now on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
