Ernie Hudson Says Development on New ‘Ghostbusters’ Video Game is Underway

Published

So, remember that story a few months back regarding Illfonic rumoured to be making a new video game based on Ghostbusters? That rumour apparently just got a boost, thanks to Ernie Hudson.

Per Ghostbusters News, while doing a Q&A at the Celebrity Fan Fest in San Antonio, Texas on Wednesday, Hudson was asked about his thoughts of doing another Ghostbusters video game (which was snagged by the Countdown City Geeks YouTube channel). Hudson responded saying that he “just got an e-mail, because we’re doing another video game.”

“They’re scheduling it now to do the recording, and I’m not too sure who’s going to do it, I know me and [Dan Aykroyd], I think. I’m not sure about [Bill Murray] will do anything on it. So, there will be another video game. When they’ll bring it out, I don’t know, but it’s definitely happening.”

In fact, Hudson said that the development team has been sending him progress images regarding his character model. “They’ve been sending me prototypes of the character to get the image right, [and] they seem to have a hard time creating my image. It’s so weird to me that they can get Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis to look exactly like they look, but I end up looking like Eddie Murphy or somebody.”

Coincidentally, for you Ghostbusters fans, Dan Aykroyd claimed that the role of Winston Zeddemore was originally intended for Murphy instead of Hudson (though director Ivan Reitman disputes this).

Illfonic has yet to respond to the original rumour of them working on the game, nor have they commented on what Hudson has said. Regardless, it’ll be interesting to see what comes of this in the new year.
