If you’ve been waiting on an update in regards to Invader Studios’ prequel to Daymare: 1998 in Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle, you’re in luck. The tribute to 90s Survival Horror will have a demo available during Steam Next Fest next week.

On top of that, we also have a new trailer for the game, which is currently in development for PC via Steam, as well as PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One later this year.

Set before the events of Daymare: 1998, the game follows special agent Dalila Reyes, a former government spy now in service of H.A.D.E.S. (Hexacore Advanced Division for Extraction and Search). Reyes has set out to explore an advanced experimental research center in the US to uncover the some strange goings on.

As for the demo itself, it aims to “immerse you in a survival horror like you’ve never experienced before”, with you uncovering connections that ties Daymare: 1994 to the original game.

“Like its predecessor, Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle is a tribute to iconic 90s horror entertainment,” says Daniele Falcone, team coordinator at Leonardo Interactive, publisher of Daymare: 1994. “The prequel will improve upon Daymare: 1998 in nearly every way with stunning character animations, breathtaking cutscenes, and meticulously crafted boss encounters that require experimentation and strategy. Prepare to witness your favourite old school zombie flicks and video games be brought back to life.”

Steam Next Fest takes place from February 21 to February 28.

The story that is State of Decay 3 finally appears to be nearing its conclusion. After stating earlier this year that the game was still very much in development, publisher Xbox Game Studios and developer Undead Labs have announced that the game will be launching on PlayStation 5 (which was announced during the Xbox Games Showcase), Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store in 2027.

In addition to the announcement, Undead Labs revealed a brand new trailer, giving players the first-ever look at gameplay for State of Decay 3.

According to Undead Labs’ Creative Director Kevin Patzelt, the team has already had playtesters on an Alpha version of the game, who are “having a blast.” The devteam plans on expanding the Alpha and then Beta list over time for players to come play. “We’ve got an audience that’s hungry for this game, the signups were fantastic, they’re going to keep growing and we want to get more.”

To do so, players can sign up for the waitlist to participate at the State of Decay 3 Playtest website. The first wave of playtests will be limited, but the team plans on sharing insights and feedback with everyone as they go, with more opportunities to participate “throughout the year.”

Set years after a zombie apocalypse nearly wiped out humankind, in State of Decay 3, you play as a community of survivors who must carve out a life for yourselve in a world gripped by a blood plague. Build up your settlements with friends, and destroy zombies.

It’s your story, and you must make tough decisions about where to live, what to build, and who to recruit into your community. Permadeath is an ever-present danger to your community, and every risk must be weighed against the reward.
