‘What Remains of Edith Finch’ Getting a PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series Release?

Published

on

Giant Sparrow’s What Remains of Edith Finch appears to be getting a release for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. Previously released for the PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One back in 2017 (and for the Nintendo Switch in 2019), listings on the Taiwan Game Rating website reveal that the BAFTA-winning title now has entries for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.

Spotted by TwistedVoxel, there’s no official announcement as of yet from either developer Giant Sparrow or publisher Annapurna Interactive in regards to the release. But given how the Taiwan Game Rating site has previously leaked unannounced titles before their publishers make their official announcements, it’s something to keep tabs on.

It’s also no clear if this will be a free upgrade for those who previously purchased What Remains of Edith Finch on the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, or a standalone release.

If you’re not familiar with What Remains of Edith Finch (hint: we liked it), the title centres on 17-year-old Edith Finch, who has returned to her dilapidated family home to investigate just why her relatives have the unfortunate habit of dying young in unusual ways. Each story you find lets you experience the life of a new family member on the day of their death throughout the family’s history.

Survios Announces VR Title ‘Alien: Rogue Incursion’, Coming This Year [Trailer]

Remember back in 2022 when developer Survios had announced that they were teaming up with 20th Century Games to develop a new Alien title? Well seeing as it’s Alien Day, Survios has announced their brand-new VR title, Alien: Rogue Incursion. Coming “Holiday 2024” to the PlayStation VR2, SteamVR, and Quest 3, Rogue Incursion will feature an original story that “fully surrounds players within the terrors of the Alien universe”.

Details on the game are light at the moment, but the official site describes the upcoming title as being “designed by Alien fans for Alien fans”, with Survios aiming to craft a “technically advanced, and frightfully immersive Alien virtual reality game.”

Seeing as Alien: Isolation never got official VR support when it was released, this is obviously a welcome announcement. In the meantime, if you’re keen to experience an Alien game in VR, you can always check out the fan-made mod for Alien: Isolation by Nibre_, which allows both the Steam and Epic Games Store version of Alien: Isolation to be played using the Oculus.

And speaking of Alien: Isolation, as you might expect, it’s got a hefty 80% discount going on at the moment on Steam until May 1. So if you still haven’t grabbed it after all these years, this is as good a time as any.
