Season Four Update for ‘Aliens: Fireteam Elite’ Introduces Crossplay, New Game Mode and More [Trailer]

Published

on

Cold Iron Studios is wrapping up the first year of Aliens: Fireteam Elite with Season Four, which introduces plenty of new content for the game, notably crossplay across PC and consoles, as well as adding a new game mode. In addition, the new update introduces a new ‘prestige’ progression system that starts once players reach level 20.

Introduced in the update is “Restock Turrets” mode. In this game type, players are tasked with having to keep their turrets restocked so they can keep firing on the waves of Xenomorphs. The mode relies on player cooperation to keep things going smoothly.

For those who have cleaned out Fireteam Elite, and are looking for additional challenge, the new Prestige ranks offer you that challenge. Upon reaching level 20, earned experience points go towards your Prestige rank, which runs up to 100. Every 10 Prestige levels, players are rewarded with new outfits, gun colours, decals, emotes and more.

Of course, the new update adds four new toys for your marines, including the double-shot burst M51 Breaching Scattergun, the P.649 HEL, a fully automatic sniper rifle in the SVAT-92 Sokol, and the shotgun-like DKT-59 Misha handgun. That’s in addition to the new Fabrication Reprocessor, which allows you to take 3 Challenge Cards and reroll them to create one new card.

This all leads up to Aliens: Fireteam Elite‘s first expansion, titled Pathogen, which arrives August 30th. Aliens: Fireteam Elite (which we reviewed here) is available for PC via Steam, Xbox Series, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

Come Face to Face With the Zombie Menace in the Story Trailer for ‘Zombie Army VR’ [Watch]

While there’s no definitive release date just yet, Rebellion is teasing fans with a new story trailer for the upcoming Zombie Army VR, which is expected to arrive later this year. The new trailer gives fans and prospective players a glimpse at the Zombie Army VR story campaign, which as you might have guessed, involves occult magic, waves of zombies, and plenty of headshots.

The game’s campaign takes place alongside the events of the Zombie Army series, and sees you take to the field as one of the Deadhunters, an elite squad that is hunting down zombie war criminals. You must fight your way through undead hordes near the bombed-out city of Nuremberg to help Captain Hermann Wolff, the Deadhunter’s legendary leader, find his scattered family and fight to free Europe from the zombie apocalypse.

As you navigate the full-length story campaign either alone or with an ally, you’ll have access to an arsenal of authentic World War II weaponry, including sniper rifles, submachine guns, pistols and more. As one would expect, VR brings a new level of immersion to the action of the Zombie Army series, which will require you to “get to grips” with using your hands to aim your rifle, dual-wield your side arm with a submachine gun, master reloading drills, and tossing grenades.

Zombie Army VR is currently in development for the PlayStation VR2, Meta Quest 2, 3, Pro, Oculus Rift and PC headsets via Steam.
