Dark Fantasy Shooter ‘GRAVEN’ Receives Second Early Access Update [Trailer]

Published

on

Slipgate Ironworks has dropped the second major Early Access update for GRAVEN, which has now been out for just over a year. GRAVEN is still expected to launch fully on PC on SteamGOG, and the Epic Games Store, as well as the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and the Nintendo Switch in 2023.

The update fleshes out GRAVEN’s first world hub, which sees players return to the plague-ridden town of Cruxfirth. You’ll be assisting the destitute townsfolk in new side quests, as well as delving into the Damned Estuary to finish off the hub. You’ll also now have at your disposal the Writ of Subjugation, an illicit scroll of primitive but effective magic, and the Ballista, a heavy crossbow capable of felling large targets at great distances.

In addition, Slipgate has also expanded the 4-player online co-op component to the GOG and Epic Game Store versions of GRAVEN. Community-requested features such as respawning items, purchasable ammo, cosmetic weapon upgrades, and more help GRAVEN feel more accessible. Per the press release, this is all part of the response to the community feedback received after releasing the first content update. In fact, the teams have decided to extend development to polish and improve GRAVEN, as well as add a third content update releasing later this year. You can see the updated roadmap below for details.

After the success of Jurassic World Evolution and its sequel, you knew that Frontier Developments would be itching to return to the well again. That appears to be the case, as the developer/publisher has announced that they’ve signed a deal with Universal for a third entry.

According to the press release, the third game in the series is scheduled for release between June 1, 2025 and May 31, 2026, with the game expected to be officially announced in the coming months. If you’re wondering about the date range, that would be because Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment are currently developing a new Jurassic World film that’s slated for release on July 2, 2025.

Jurassic World Evolution remains Frontier’s best-selling game to date since its release almost six years ago.

“We are delighted to reveal that we are developing a third Jurassic World game to extend our collaborative relationship with Universal Products & Experiences for our best-selling game franchise,” states Frontier Development Chief Executive Officer Jonny Watts. “Our Jurassic World Evolution game franchise has showcased great creative and technical expertise in CMS games and the strength of our select, develop, launch, and nurture strategy in the genre. I very much look forward to providing more information on our exciting plans for the franchise in the future.”

You can grab the first two entries in the series on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
