‘Phasmophobia’ Apocalypse Update Is Now Live, Adding New Locations, New Custom Difficulty and More

Published

on

Three weeks after revealing their revamped roadmap for Phasmophobia, developer Kinetic Games has hit the switch on the game’s new Apocalypse Update. The v0.7.0.0 update includes a whack of changes, including a new difficulty setting, new locations, adjusted ghost types and more.

The custom difficulty option now allows players to tweak their game settings to essentially create their own challenges. Things like setting whether you lose items upon death, tweaking ghost behaviour and editing contract stipulations are all here. Each custom option is tied to a reward multiplier, so you can still earn money and XP from your Custom games.

The revamped Sunny Meadows Mental Institution map is finally here, as well as a RESTRICTED version that allows you to vote to play in a smaller section of the map. There’s also a small version of Maple Lodge Campsite called Camp Woodwind that features a brand new layout and fewer rooms.

Ghosts have also been tweaked in various areas, as well as having their ability to throw items adjusted to make it “impactful, noticeable, and more exciting each time”.

Phasmophobia‘s update also kicks off what Kinetic Games has deemed the Apocalypse Challenge v2. The event will begin later this week, and involves players earning three unique trophies for their collectible cabinet. Simply complete all 4 objectives and get a ghost photo in Sunny Meadows Mental Institution with the set custom difficulty multipliers.

Come Face to Face With the Zombie Menace in the Story Trailer for ‘Zombie Army VR’ [Watch]

While there’s no definitive release date just yet, Rebellion is teasing fans with a new story trailer for the upcoming Zombie Army VR, which is expected to arrive later this year. The new trailer gives fans and prospective players a glimpse at the Zombie Army VR story campaign, which as you might have guessed, involves occult magic, waves of zombies, and plenty of headshots.

The game’s campaign takes place alongside the events of the Zombie Army series, and sees you take to the field as one of the Deadhunters, an elite squad that is hunting down zombie war criminals. You must fight your way through undead hordes near the bombed-out city of Nuremberg to help Captain Hermann Wolff, the Deadhunter’s legendary leader, find his scattered family and fight to free Europe from the zombie apocalypse.

As you navigate the full-length story campaign either alone or with an ally, you’ll have access to an arsenal of authentic World War II weaponry, including sniper rifles, submachine guns, pistols and more. As one would expect, VR brings a new level of immersion to the action of the Zombie Army series, which will require you to “get to grips” with using your hands to aim your rifle, dual-wield your side arm with a submachine gun, master reloading drills, and tossing grenades.

Zombie Army VR is currently in development for the PlayStation VR2, Meta Quest 2, 3, Pro, Oculus Rift and PC headsets via Steam.
