‘Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed’ Haunting PC and Consoles Now [Trailer]

Published

on

In case you missed it, Illfonic’s Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is now out on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One and PC via the Epic Games Store. Accompanying the release is the launch trailer featuring Ray Stantz and Winston Zeddemore themselves, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson.

In Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, Ray and Winston open the Firehouse to the next generation of Ghostbusters. An asymmetrical game of hide and seek, the 4v1 setup sees players either playing as part of a team of new Ghostbusters or a singular Ghost. Spirits Unleashed not only allows players to enjoy the game solo or with up to four friends, but also has an online and offline single-player mode available in the form of AI assisted play.

The objective in Spirits Unleashed is pretty self-explanatory: as a Ghostbuster, you’ve got to catch a Ghost that’s haunting a location with your trusty ghost trap and tools. Use the PKE Meter to sniff out rifts that act as the Ghost’s spawn points and destroy them with your Proton Pack’s particle thrower before the Ghost completes their haunt. As you progress, you’ll unlock cosmetics and upgrades for both Ghostbusters and Ghosts to evolve their gameplay experiences.

Meanwhile, as the Ghost you have multiple abilities at your disposal, including possessing objects, sliming Ghostbusters and more. You can choose from up to five Ghosts types with unique skills, ultimate abilities, and minions fueled by ectoplasm. Fly around public locations and possess an inordinate amount of inanimate objects to evade pursuing Ghostbusters. Frighten citizens until they flee in fear, prank unsuspecting Ghostbusters, and hide your rifts to spawn safely in case you get trapped.

The more you play Spirits Unleashed, the more the story arc is revealed. Follow the needs of Ray Stantz and Winston Zeddemore (played once again by Aykroyd and Hudson) to uncover cutscenes that “build to an exciting conclusion!”

And if you need further convincing, check out Reyna’s take on the game.

Get a Taste of the Action-Packed Terror in the Demo for FPS Shooter ‘BLIGHTEN’ [Trailer]

Published

For those itching for some throwback first-person shooter action, Blight Software has just had a demo released for their upcoming FPS BLIGHTEN. The demo sees you and your squad selected to eliminate the last rebels in the eastern wastes, only to have your slaughtered, and you trapped in a decaying research facility. And you’re not alone.

You’ll explore every room of the facility for resources and weapons in an effort to stay alive. Luckily, you’ll have an extensive arsenal of various firearms at your disposal, from shotguns to assault rifles.

You’ll need them in order to take down the various blight-ridden mutated horrors throughout the mega structure. As one would expect, you’ll need to scrounge for parts and ammo, so make every shot count.

Similar to what players experienced in the early PlayStation classic Alien Trilogy, BLIGHTEN sports hand-drawn enemy sprites and animation in a 3D retro world, creating a unique and dynamic atmosphere while still scratching that throwback itch.

It’s all wrapped up in a dark narrative, where an unseen evil lurks in the shadows of the facility, shaping the horrors around you as you descend deeper into the facility. As you navigate this industrial nightmare, every Blightened creature slain is a grim reminder to what you’ve lost — and the things you’re fighting for.

Look for BLIGHTEN later this year on Steam.
