December is inching ever closer, and so is the release of Striking Distance Studios’ The Callisto Protocol. And to keep the buzz going, the developer has released a brand-new launch trailer for The Callisto Protocol that starts off with a bang, and quickly descends into hell.

Featuring the song “Lost Again” by Kings Elliot (recorded exclusively for The Callisto Protocol), the launch trailer quickly gives you the story overview of protagonist Jacob Lee being incarcerated as an inmate in Black Iron Prison, located on Callisto, one of Jupiter’s moons. When a mysterious outbreak throws the moon into chaos, Jacob must face his darkest fears to defeat the bloodthirsty creatures that stalk him as he unravels the dark mysteries at the heart of the powerful United Jupiter Company.

The trailer “showcases thrilling performances from Transformers star Josh Duhamel as Jacob Lee, The Boys star Karen Fukuhara as Dani Nakamura, and Sam Witwer as Leon Ferris.”

The Callisto Protocol lands December 2nd for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam. And in case you missed it, you can check out the prequel six-part podcast “Helix Station” starring Gwendoline Christie and Michael Ironside, which just recently released its fifth episode.

And if that’s not enough, you can check out the Mastering Horror roundtable that IGN streamed, featuring Striking Distance Studios’ Glen Schofield, Practical FX veteran Alec Gillis, and the Newton Brothers (Composers).

The House of The Dead fans have a new rail shooter to dive into with Alex Rassloff‘s MEATHOOK, which will be launching on Steam on July 21. If you can’t wait that long, you can check out the demo, which features seven of the game’s 10 levels.

This survival horror FPS sees you being captured by a mysterious cult, which has killed your partner and suspended you from a conveyor mechanism like a piece of meat. Making matter worse, you’re now forced to partake in a collection of ritualistic challenges, collecting weapons and cleansing the tunnels of cultists that are looking to carve you up.

Sporting throwback PS1-style graphics and gore, MEATHOOK also features a tactile physics-driven weapon system as well as a unique manual reload feature. You navigate the small interconnected levels by selecting markers to move along the conveyor that takes you throughout the levels. You’ll be stocking up on resources such as food, ammo, keys and guns.

For added replay, there are multiple paths to discover, as well as a few shortcuts. There are also secret items to discover for the completionists in mind.
