Nightdive Confirms ‘System Shock’ Remake March 2023 Release Window
While it was first spotted back in October, Nightdive Studios has now confirmed that their upcoming System Shock remake has a release window of March 2023. The developers also took the opportunity to show off some new eye candy for the remake, including the game’s dismemberment system.
In a new Kickstarter post, Nightdive acknowledges that this isn’t the first time the long-in-development remake has had an announced release window. But, with the addition of Prime Matter as publisher, Nightdive has been able to focus on polishing the System Shock remake enough that they could announce the March release window.
“As some of you have already pointed out this is not our first time announcing a tentative launch window, but over the past few years much has changed – the scope and scale of the project has evolved dramatically and with Prime Matter joining the project it’s enabled us to focus on quality-of-life improvements, bug fixing, and localization support – the last major steps towards releasing a game we’re all incredibly proud of.”

Alongside showing off the various enemy models and effects, Nightdive also posted a video showing off System Shock‘s dismemberment system, which for old-school PC gamers, calls back to Raven Software’s Soldier of Fortune series, and the fun that you could have blowing off enemy limbs. “As you know dismemberment has been a high priority for us and every enemy is receiving a completely custom dismemberment model – there are a lot of enemies and the amount of effort being spent on this is staggering.”
System Shock is available to pre-order now for PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store, and will also be releasing on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, and the Xbox One.

Take a Deep Dive Into Gameplay with the New Trailer for ‘The Relic: First Guardian’ [Watch]
On the heels of The Relic: First Guardian getting its revised release date a few weeks back, Project Cloud Games and Perp Games have released a new (nearly) 13-minute gameplay deep dive video for the upcoming dark fantasy Soulslike. Along with noting that players will encounter stories inspired by traditional Korean folktales and legends, the trailer showcases some of the dungeon-crawling segments they’ll be encountering on their quest.
The Relic: First Guardian takes place on the fictitious continent of Arsiltus. You are the First Guardian, charged with embarking on a heroic adventure to save the world. The once-prosperous Arsiltus was swallowed up by the void created by the destruction of the great relic and transformed into the land of death. Now your mission is to find the pieces of the broken great relic and close the void.
Featuring more than 70 bosses known as “Brutals”, each one carries a personal tale of sorrow and tragedy of how they came to be the formidable foe that plagues the lands. It’s your task to overcome each Brutal by using a combination of unique weapons, magic, and skills that can be tailored to each playstyle or enemy interaction. As expected from its inspiration, every defence and dodge consumes stamina, requiring you to plan your attacks as well as your counters.
Players that come out victorious will inherit each unique tragic story of their enemy’s demise, along with special items, enhancements, and upgrades to progress through the story. These will aid in every subsequent fight as you explore vast environments and collect fragments to unlock more skills and weapons.
Look for The Relic: First Guardian on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam on July 31, while versions for the Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch 2 are expected later this year.
