Immersive VR Survival Horror Title ‘Fractured Sanity’ Announced [Trailer]
Brazilian developer United Games has announced a new single-player survival horror VR title in Fractured Sanity. Due out on Steam and Meta Quest, Fractured Sanity is inspired by classics such as Silent Hill and Resident Evil where you’ll not only have to survive, but also use your wits in order to solve puzzles.
The story sees you waking up in a cell at the Triton Institute, an experimental asylum led by Dr. Matthew Simmons. Rumours abound that the clinic has been host to abuse and inhumane working conditions. Only now, it seems that most of the staff has gone missing. All you know is that Dr. Simmons has been conducting research into the tripartite psyche on how to break someone’s id, ego and superego apart. Not only will you have to escape your cell and the clinic, but also uncover the truth about the facility, and just how you got there.
Fractured Sanity features interactive physics-based puzzles mixed with survival horror elements to bring about an immersive atmosphere of tension and relief. You’ll be collecting items as well as solving puzzles, all the while interacting with everything in a physics-based VR simulation. Every item you come across may be useful, so you’ll have to read carefully and interact with the environment in order to progress.
“Ever since I was 14 when I first read an RPG Maker magazine, I’ve been dreaming of making games for a living,” says Gabriel Marques, co-developer at United Games. “Now, with our first release, I feel like I’ve taken the first big step towards that goal.” United Games co-developer Gustavo Longhi added: “Two years ago I wouldn’t have dreamt of developing games, it always seemed so hard and complex to me. Looking back on this process and releasing our first game might be the biggest accomplishment of my life so far.”
