Pre-Orders For Physical and Digital Editions of ‘The Texas Chain Saw Massacre’ Now Available

Published

Sure, game publishers are slowly inching towards digital-only releases, but dang it, physical media junkies still exist. Gun Interactive certainly knows this, and they’ve announced that pre-orders for physical editions (and digital) of their upcoming adaptation of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre are available now at your favourite retailer.

Available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, the physical editions will be available on August 18th (the same day that the game is released), retailing for $39.99 USD. And as an added bonus, the first batch of the physical release will include an exclusive poster replicating the cover art for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. As always, the “while supplies last” is key here.

Given that today’s releases from major developers/studios venture into the $70 and $80 range (or more), this is quite the steal. In fact, Gun Interactive’s Wes Keltner certainly took notice of peoples’ responses. You could spring for a couple copies, if you’d like.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre: The Game will launch for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam. It will also be available day one on Xbox Game Pass. And for you audiophiles, the game’s soundtrack and companion album are now available, as well.

We’ll be waiting a little while longer for developer Studio Cut to Bits’ gothic Metroidvania Venture to the Vile. Originally slated to launch on PC via Steam on May 7, the game has now been pushed a couple of weeks to May 22. The PlayStation release of Venture to the Vile is still expected later this year.

In a press release, Venture to the Vile producer Masao Kobayashi explains the decision to delay the release, stating that while Studio Cut to Bits is made up of industry veterans, this is the first time that the team has released a game as indie developers. As such, the team encountered a few hurdles leading up to the original release date.

“We all love Venture to the Vile and want to make sure we are delivering the best possible game we can for our players. For this reason, we have decided to delay our game by two weeks. I’m sorry to those who have been anticipating our game but I assure you it is going to be worth the wait.”

Venture to the Vile centres on the town of Rainybrook, where an unknown darkness is taking over, transforming anything and anyone it touches. Fortunately for you, you seem to be unaffected by this presence. However, your friend Ella is nowhere to be seen. You must brave the horrors and find her.
