“Tide of Shadows” Event for ‘Hunt: Showdown’ Starts Today on PC, With Consoles to Follow Later [Trailer]

After teasing some of the goodies in the upcoming “Tide of Shadows” live event for Hunt: Showdown earlier this month, Crytek has kicked off the event today. “Tide of Shadows” features new challenges, gameplay, weapons, story, and a new boss in Rotjaw for the duration of the event, which runs until August 23.

The new live event introduces a new Boss category in the Wild Target, with Rotjaw being the first. Unlike other Boss enemies in the game, Rotjaw will not be found inside a compound. Instead, she lurks in the waters of the Bayou. Designed for a new gameplay experience, Rotjaw will force Hunters to improvise while defending in the wide open spaces. Players must make decisions on the fly about how to approach and dispatch this giant croc, earning a Bounty Token if they succeed.

The “Tide of Shadows” event also introduces new Pacts for players to pledge towards for their Hunter – the Primal Pact, Smuggler Pact, and Grounded Pact. Each pact has in-depth lore about their origins and aims to be discovered, as well as new Legendary Weapons and Equipment associated with the three factions available to unlock.

To unlock further rewards during the event, players must earn Event Points, awarded for completing a range of in-game challenges and by interacting with or destroying new Ship Altars scattered around the Bayou. To help rack up Event Points, Hunters can take advantage of new single-use “Burn Traits,” which are only available for the duration of the event, offering players new ways to play. Event Points can be exchanged for a wide range of rewards throughout the Live Event. “Tide of Shadows” also brings a new Battle Pass with both free and premium pathways.

Hunt: Showdown and the “Tide of Shadows” event is available now on PC via Steam. The event will be arriving on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at a later date.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 15 years since Tripwire Interactive graced horror fans with Killing Floor. To mark the occasion, not only has Tripwire made deep discounts for the sequel, but they’ve also dropped the first developer diary for the upcoming third entry in the series, Killing Floor 3.

Originally conceived of by a team of modders, the Killing Floor franchise has entertained (and horrified) more than 30+ million players worldwide, delivering years of guns, gore, and co-op mayhem. As part of the franchise anniversary celebrations, Killing Floor 2 will be free-to-play from May 16-20 on Steam, the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, the Xbox One and Xbox Series, and is on sale on all storefronts, including the Epic Games Store.

Fans can check the official Killing Floor social channels for specifics on these special anniversary, as well as the limited time discounts on Killing Floor 2. All progress made and rewards earned during this free weekend will be carried over to full accounts following purchase, including Perk levels and weapon unlocks.

Meanwhile, the first developer diary for Killing Floor 3 is also available, which “drills into the bloody history and legacy of the franchise, and how the studio is returning to its horror roots with the upcoming sequel.”
