After being delayed from its original release date last year, we still don’t have confirmation on just when S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl will release. However, according to a new listing on the official German Plaion Store, we may be seeing the game just in time for Christmas.
Spotted by Wccftech, the distributor for GSC Game World’s long-awaited follow-up to 2009’s Call of Pripyat has listed the game as releasing on December 1st. This has not been confirmed by Plaion or GSC Game World, and may be a placeholder. However, the date is on a Friday, which is a common day for games to be released. Also, Heart of Chernobyl was originally scheduled to be released on December 8, 2022.
Lastly, it was reported that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl would be making an appearance at this year’s Gamescom in a playable state, further lending credence to the unconfirmed December 1 release date. But again, until GSC Game World or Plaion confirm the date, we’re left with a rumour at this point.
The fourth entry in the cult favourite series, Heart of Chernobyl sees the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone having changed dramatically after the second massive explosion in 2006. Violent mutants, deadly anomalies, and warring factions have made the Zone a difficult to survive. Nevertheless, artifacts of unbelievable value have attracted many people called S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s, who have entered the Zone at their own risk striving to make a fortune out of it, or even to find the truth in the heart of Chernobyl.
