‘The 7th Guest VR’ Arrives October 19th for PC, Meta Quest [Trailer]

After being announced earlier this year, Vertigo Games has announced that The 7th Guest VR will be joining the Halloween release crowd with an October 19th launch. The game will be available for PC via Steam, Meta Quest 2, and Meta Quest 3.

“With The 7th Guest VR, we aim to push the boundaries of what is possible in virtual reality, just like the original game did with the CD-ROM,” The 7th Guest VR director Paul van der Meer stated in the press release. “The story trailer shows the real achievements of volumetric capture at this level, giving players a taste of the intense atmosphere as they observe the characters exploring the strange happenings of the mansion, and the sinister reasons they’ve been brought there.”

Entirely reimagined for virtual reality gameplay with additional enhancements, The 7th Guest VR features the same classic story by Matthew J. Costello, and brings back iconic characters in full 3D using “cutting-edge ghostly volumetric video capture with 3D live-action graphics”. The new 3D world of Stauf Mansion is complete with all-new puzzles that have been carefully redesigned to take full advantage of the technological possibilities of virtual reality. The mansion’s puzzles are all meaningfully connected to the main story, and use recognizable aesthetic elements to pay homage to the original game.

Survios Announces VR Title ‘Alien: Rogue Incursion’, Coming This Year [Trailer]

Remember back in 2022 when developer Survios had announced that they were teaming up with 20th Century Games to develop a new Alien title? Well seeing as it’s Alien Day, Survios has announced their brand-new VR title, Alien: Rogue Incursion. Coming “Holiday 2024” to the PlayStation VR2, SteamVR, and Quest 3, Rogue Incursion will feature an original story that “fully surrounds players within the terrors of the Alien universe”.

Details on the game are light at the moment, but the official site describes the upcoming title as being “designed by Alien fans for Alien fans”, with Survios aiming to craft a “technically advanced, and frightfully immersive Alien virtual reality game.”

Seeing as Alien: Isolation never got official VR support when it was released, this is obviously a welcome announcement. In the meantime, if you’re keen to experience an Alien game in VR, you can always check out the fan-made mod for Alien: Isolation by Nibre_, which allows both the Steam and Epic Games Store version of Alien: Isolation to be played using the Oculus.

And speaking of Alien: Isolation, as you might expect, it’s got a hefty 80% discount going on at the moment on Steam until May 1. So if you still haven’t grabbed it after all these years, this is as good a time as any.
