‘Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition’ Finally Comes Home to Consoles on September 29th

After the hiccup for the console release of Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition, Nightdive Studios, New Blood Interactive and Apogee Entertainment have finally announced that the remaster of the cult classic FPS now has a release date of September 29 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, with both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series via backwards compatibility.

For the first time in ROTT history, players will gear up for all-out carnage on consoles and experience the trailblazing ‘90s FPS as never played before – with a controller! Players will be able to run and gun across newly added multiplayer maps, and enjoy modern enhancements like revamped 4K graphics, increased FOV, and cloud saves.

Gear up and take aim as an operative of the High-Risk United Nations Task-Force (codenamed H.U.N.T.) on a top-secret investigation off the California coast. Select from five elite soldiers armed with distinct abilities and stats, and stamp out shadowy cult activity wreaking havoc on Los Angeles.

Navigate twisty labyrinthine lairs and stage an all-out assault with iconic weaponry like dual-wielded pistols and MP-40 machine guns. Turn up the heat with face-melting drunk missiles, and rocket-jump skyward to rain down firepower from above in the world’s first FPS with verticality.

“It’s been a blast adding new features to ROTT after all these years,” said Scott Miller, founder of Apogee Entertainment and original project manager of the original version of Rise of the Triad. “We look forward to console gamers getting a chance to experience FPS history in just a few short weeks!”

Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition is available now on PC via Steam and GOG.

Cult of the Lamb players will be getting more free goodies later this summer with the Unholy Alliance update. Coming August 12, the update introduces a brand new playable character in the Goat, which coincides with the game allowing local co-op.

With the Unholy Alliance update, the entire Cult of the Lamb campaign will be playable in local co-op. Players will also be able to enjoy special 2-player versions of existing mini-games, such as Fishing and Knucklebones, as well as choose from a selection of weapons, tarot cards, curses, and corrupted relics as your cooperative crusades progress.

The Lamb and Goat can also swap weapons, deal extra damage when fighting back to back, and even deliver a critical hit when their attacks are in sync. Good news for those who prefer to stay alone in their corner: they will be able to benefit from various new powers.

In addition to the addition of cooperative play, the Unholy Alliance expansion adds several tarot cards, relics, buildings, fleeces, character traits and quests, as well as the addition of new secrets to discover.

More information on the update will be released as the launch date creeps closer. Cult of The Lamb is available now on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and the Nintendo Switch.
