Finally, console gamers can get in on the revamped old-school FPS fun of Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition that PC gamers have been enjoying for a few months. The remaster of the cult classic shooter is out today for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, Xbox One, the Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch, courtesy of Nightdive Studios, New Blood Interactive and Apogee Entertainment.

For the first time ever, players can splatter ludicrous gibs on consoles! With a controller in hand, get trigger happy and experience 1995’s Rise of the Triad like never before with modern luxuries, including crisp 4K graphics, increased FOV, cloud saves, and achievements.

“Reviving ROTT has been a blast. Many thanks to our friends at Nightdive and New Blood for making the console edition a reality,” said Scott Miller, founder of Apogee Entertainment and original project manager of Rise of the Triad circa 1995. “ROTT’s simple, fast-paced formula was revolutionary and still yields hours upon hours of fun. For some, this is the FPS that your parents played, but the console edition gives a whole new generation to join the H.U.N.T., and I’m sure some parent-child faceoffs will be in the works!”

A sinister threat looms off the California coast, and the clandestine Triad clan is dead-set on destroying Los Angeles. Suit up as one of five High-Risk United Nations Task-Force operatives (codenamed H.U.N.T.), each with their own distinct attributes, and blow away cult members while making your way through labyrinthine levels.

Longtime fans of Rise of the Triad will enjoy new content, including five heart-pounding campaigns, fresh expansion packs, and never-before-seen-narrative beta build episodes designed by the original developers.

Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition is also available on PC via Steam and GOG.

Cult of the Lamb players will be getting more free goodies later this summer with the Unholy Alliance update. Coming August 12, the update introduces a brand new playable character in the Goat, which coincides with the game allowing local co-op.

With the Unholy Alliance update, the entire Cult of the Lamb campaign will be playable in local co-op. Players will also be able to enjoy special 2-player versions of existing mini-games, such as Fishing and Knucklebones, as well as choose from a selection of weapons, tarot cards, curses, and corrupted relics as your cooperative crusades progress.

The Lamb and Goat can also swap weapons, deal extra damage when fighting back to back, and even deliver a critical hit when their attacks are in sync. Good news for those who prefer to stay alone in their corner: they will be able to benefit from various new powers.

In addition to the addition of cooperative play, the Unholy Alliance expansion adds several tarot cards, relics, buildings, fleeces, character traits and quests, as well as the addition of new secrets to discover.

More information on the update will be released as the launch date creeps closer. Cult of The Lamb is available now on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and the Nintendo Switch.
