‘Vampire: The Masquerade’ Arrives in ‘Dying Light 2’ for Week-Long Event Starting Today

Published

on

Techland has pulled another crossover event out of left field for Dying Light 2. This time, World of Darkness’ Vampire: The Masquerade has paid a visit, just in time for Halloween.

After teaming up with Starbreeze and PAYDAY 2 during the summer, Techland is kicking off a week of The Frightening, with the first part of the in-game event starting today, October 26, until next Thursday, November 2 for free for all Dying Light 2 players on PC, PlayStation 4 PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and Xbox One consoles. The Kindred from Vampire: The Masquerade come to Dying Light 2 to lay waste to everything, and it’s up to you to stop them.

On this occasion, players will be more likely to cut off limbs and inflict more damage at night, and will also get a taste for blood. Vials of Banu Haqim, Brujah, and Tremere Blood will grant characters temporary powers focused on Combat, Traversal, and Survival. Vials can be found while looting Dark Hollows or Forsaken Stores, and by defeating Volatiles, Tyrants, Hives, and Revenants. Plus, players will be able to reach goals in exchange for vampiric rewards.

Players can meet the Event’s goals by completing Bounties and fulfilling Challenges (at a silver level, minimum) – or combining both. A player who carries out one will reach the Participation Goal – getting three Vials of either Banu Haqim, Brujah, or Tremere Blood. Completing five reaches the Warm-Up Goal, which yields the Bloodbane Blade weapon and blueprint. The Personal Goal, featuring the Banu Haqim outfit, requires 11. And if all players, together, complete 775,000 bounties and/or challenges during the event, everyone will get a Banu Haqim Charm for their weapon as well as the Haqim’s Ascent paraglider skin complete with a night glow effect appropriate for the Children of the Night.

And to sweeten things, depending on which clan you choose to identify with, starting on Thursday, November 2, Dying Light 2 players can purchase special Banu Haqim, Brujah, and Tremere Bundles via the in-game store for 500 DL Points. The full Banu Haqim Bundle can also be assembled for free by completing the Vampire: The Masquerade Event’s Goals.

Dying Light 2 is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.

Bloody Body Horror Revealed in ‘Stellar Blade: Blood Rain’, Currently in Development [Trailer]

Shift Up has shifted things dramatically from 2024’s action-adventure game Stellar Blade, offering up a body horror bonanza in the newly announced sequel, Stellar Blade: Blood Rain. The sequel is currently early in development, but if the trailer is any indication, players will be in for plenty of body horror.

Continuing the story from the original Stellar Blade, Blood Rain will star a new protagonist named Eve. Earth has been abandoned, and what is left of humanity has fled to a Colony in outer space.

Shift Up had mentioned during a Q&A following its latest earnings presentation last month that development on Blood Rain (which was still unannounced at the time) was progressing smoothly, and was on track to meet their targeted quality standards.

Shift Up stated that with this new title it would be transitioning to a first-party service model, effectively moving away from the restrictions the game experienced with original publisher Sony, which had the game under an exclusivity agreement for the PlayStation 5. “This will allow us to lead marketing strategies that fully reflect the distinctive identity of the Stellar Blade IP, and we expect to communicate the unique appeal of its universe to players more directly and effectively.”

Whether this means that Xbox Players will finally be able to play the original game (or its sequel) is still not clear. Meanwhile, Stellar Blade is reportedly being ported to the Nintendo Switch 2, but no official confirmation has been made.
