Sci-fi Horror Video Game ‘Fort Solis’ Inks a Deal for Planned Film and Television Adaptations

Developer Fallen Leaf Studios released their psychological sci-fi thriller Fort Solis earlier this year, a video game inspired by films including Alien, Solaris, Moon and Sunshine.

Now Fort Solis is getting a movie and possibly even a television series of its own, with Deadline reporting that “Sweden’s Studios Extraordinaires is teaming with European games maker Fallen Leaf Studios to develop film and TV versions of [the] sci-fi horror game.”

In the game, players take control of engineer Jack Leary, who is thrust into an emergency situation on an isolated Martian mining base. As events spiral out of control, a mystery about the fate of the base’s crew slowly unravels.

Fort Solis is the kind of clever science-fiction tethering on the brink of science-fact that will stay with you long after you step away from the screen,” said Studios Extraordinaires co-founders André Hedetoft and Andreas Troedsson. “Each character in the small cast brings a unique perspective and depth to the story and we can’t wait to bring its gripping narrative, cinematic setting, and stellar cast to life amidst the thrilling backdrop of the Martian frontier.”

“The signing of this film and TV production deal with Studios Extraordinaires marks a significant milestone in the evolution of the IP,” added Fallen Leaf CEO Piotr Kurkowski.

Kurkowski continued in his official statement, “Through this partnership, we’re opening new gateways and avenues to explore the universe established in our debut title.”

Cult of the Lamb players will be getting more free goodies later this summer with the Unholy Alliance update. Coming August 12, the update introduces a brand new playable character in the Goat, which coincides with the game allowing local co-op.

With the Unholy Alliance update, the entire Cult of the Lamb campaign will be playable in local co-op. Players will also be able to enjoy special 2-player versions of existing mini-games, such as Fishing and Knucklebones, as well as choose from a selection of weapons, tarot cards, curses, and corrupted relics as your cooperative crusades progress.

The Lamb and Goat can also swap weapons, deal extra damage when fighting back to back, and even deliver a critical hit when their attacks are in sync. Good news for those who prefer to stay alone in their corner: they will be able to benefit from various new powers.

In addition to the addition of cooperative play, the Unholy Alliance expansion adds several tarot cards, relics, buildings, fleeces, character traits and quests, as well as the addition of new secrets to discover.

More information on the update will be released as the launch date creeps closer. Cult of The Lamb is available now on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and the Nintendo Switch.
