Upcoming Bodycam Horror Game ‘Chasmal Fear’ Has You Battling Monsters Underwater [Trailer]

Published

on

Coming off of their Survival Horror title with DreadXP in Mirror Forge, developer MystiveDev is taking a stab at the Bodycam Horror genre with Chasmal Fear, a single-player and co-op title that incorporates Survival Horror mechanics with the immersive nature of bodycam footage.

Set in the near future, Chasmal Fear puts you in the underwater Magnus Facility, where things have understandably gone wrong. Ammo is scarce. The odds are stacked against you. And you’ve got monsters roaming around the facility that don’t go down without a fight. In fact, the monsters will randomly start to mutate into stronger forms after being killed. As a result, you’ll need to think twice before engaging the creatures, and potentially look for a more stealthy way to avoid them.

Those aren’t the only choices you’ll face in Chasmal Fear, as your decisions to go a certain route will affect the way you navigate elsewhere. Adding to the replayability are the randomized events occurring throughout the game, such as the crumbling structures and unexpected scares. Luckily, you can bring along a friend to tag team your escape. Though as you might expect, the difficulty of Chasmal Fear will ramp up as a result.

Currently slated for a PC release on Steam, Chasmal Fear is without a release date at the moment. However, you can keep track of updates via the Steam page, or through MystiveDev’s official site.

Survios Announces VR Title ‘Alien: Rogue Incursion’, Coming This Year [Trailer]

Remember back in 2022 when developer Survios had announced that they were teaming up with 20th Century Games to develop a new Alien title? Well seeing as it’s Alien Day, Survios has announced their brand-new VR title, Alien: Rogue Incursion. Coming “Holiday 2024” to the PlayStation VR2, SteamVR, and Quest 3, Rogue Incursion will feature an original story that “fully surrounds players within the terrors of the Alien universe”.

Details on the game are light at the moment, but the official site describes the upcoming title as being “designed by Alien fans for Alien fans”, with Survios aiming to craft a “technically advanced, and frightfully immersive Alien virtual reality game.”

Seeing as Alien: Isolation never got official VR support when it was released, this is obviously a welcome announcement. In the meantime, if you’re keen to experience an Alien game in VR, you can always check out the fan-made mod for Alien: Isolation by Nibre_, which allows both the Steam and Epic Games Store version of Alien: Isolation to be played using the Oculus.

And speaking of Alien: Isolation, as you might expect, it’s got a hefty 80% discount going on at the moment on Steam until May 1. So if you still haven’t grabbed it after all these years, this is as good a time as any.
