Check Out ‘Max Payne Remixed’, a Fan-Made Remaster of ‘Max Payne’ With RTX Enhancements! [Video]

Remedy’s remaster of Max Payne 1 and 2 is still a ways off, but a modder has taken the opportunity to do a little “What if?” in regards to the original game, throwing in some of that RTX sweetness. If you head over to ModDB, modder Slasks Psykbunker has a demo of Max Payne Remixed, which takes the original Max Payne, and adds some modern-day graphical enhancements, including updated models, textures and most notably, ray tracing.

The mod is still in early development, and as such, only showcases the first level of Max Payne, the Roscoe Street Station. Nevertheless, thanks to the mod, the graphical enhancements add that little something extra to the game’s neo-noir look. It’s not perfect, but it does give you an idea of what things could look like with the remaster. And if things are a little too shiny for your liking, Psykbunker had included an option to adjust the roughness setting for the textures.

In order to get this mod up and running, you will need to do a bit of tinkering. Obviously, you’ll need a copy of Max Payne for your PC and a compatible RTX video card. You’ll also need to have RTX Remix, DirectX-9c and the Definitive Edition patch for Max Payne installed. The Max Payne Remixed page thankfully has the necessary instructions.

Thanks to DSOGaming for this one, and thanks to Toasty Turnpike for the gameplay video.

Survios Announces VR Title ‘Alien: Rogue Incursion’, Coming This Year [Trailer]

Remember back in 2022 when developer Survios had announced that they were teaming up with 20th Century Games to develop a new Alien title? Well seeing as it’s Alien Day, Survios has announced their brand-new VR title, Alien: Rogue Incursion. Coming “Holiday 2024” to the PlayStation VR2, SteamVR, and Quest 3, Rogue Incursion will feature an original story that “fully surrounds players within the terrors of the Alien universe”.

Details on the game are light at the moment, but the official site describes the upcoming title as being “designed by Alien fans for Alien fans”, with Survios aiming to craft a “technically advanced, and frightfully immersive Alien virtual reality game.”

Seeing as Alien: Isolation never got official VR support when it was released, this is obviously a welcome announcement. In the meantime, if you’re keen to experience an Alien game in VR, you can always check out the fan-made mod for Alien: Isolation by Nibre_, which allows both the Steam and Epic Games Store version of Alien: Isolation to be played using the Oculus.

And speaking of Alien: Isolation, as you might expect, it’s got a hefty 80% discount going on at the moment on Steam until May 1. So if you still haven’t grabbed it after all these years, this is as good a time as any.
