“Season of the Construct” Event Coming to Diablo IV Next Week [Trailer]

Blizzard is looking to drag you right back into Hell with the announcement of “Season of the Construct”, the new upcoming event in Diablo IV. Kicking off on January 23, players will venture into the deserts of Kehjistan to discover new dungeon-type Vaults with the aid of a brand-new seasonal robotic Seneschal Companion.

The story for the event centres around the Loom, an ancient technology created by Zolton Kulle and Ayuzhan of Caldeum, which has been usurped by the Demon Malphas. You and your companions will team up with Zoltun’s former companion, Ayuzhan, to defeat Malphas and his deadly Constructs. The Gatehall, a new town center underneath Kehjistan, will serve as your base of operations in the fight.

As part of the Seasonal Questline, you will acquire your very own Seneschal Companion, which will fight by your side and can be customized to fit your playstyle. Using magical Governing and Tuning Stones recovered from the Vaults, you can augment the Seneschal. Governing Stones determine which attacks your Seneschal perform, and Tuning Stones augment those skills and provide greater utility.

Season of the Construct will also unveil a new dungeon type known as Vaults, which are filled with various elemental Hazards and a new monster family know as The Constructs. At World Tier III, Nightmare Vaults will unlock. When entering a vault, you can convert Pearls of Warding and be blessed by Zoltun’s Warding, a special layered blessing that grants access to riches within the Vaults. These will diminish stack by stack if you fall prey to the Hazards within. Pearls of Warding can increase the risk by exchanging them for stacks of Zoltun’s Warding, but success will see your reward increase as well. Pearls of Warding can be obtained from destroying Elite Constructs during Arcane Tremors in the overworld.

The update will also introduce new quality-of-life improvements to Diablo IV. Helltides will now always be active with a 5-minute rest once per hour. For those using their trusty mouse and keyboard on PC, you will now be able to traverse Sanctuary by using W-A-S-D keys. An extra Stash Tab will also be available. Other improvements have been made to reallocating your skill tree, UI when trading Gold, and increased rates to earn summon items for the Beast in the Ice and more.

Diablo IV is out now on PC via Battle.net and Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

‘Vampire Survivors’ Receives “Laborratory” Update Ahead of ‘Operations Guns’ Next Week [Trailer]

Ahead of Contra arriving in Vampire Survivors with Operation Guns, developer Poncle has released a new free 1.10 update for the roguelike entitled the “Laborratory” update. The update adds new achievements for those of you who love that sort of thing, as well as a new character, new stages and new weapons.

“Since the early days of VS, people have been asking important questions like ‘Why is it called Santa Water?’,” reads the update. The Laborratory update aims to address that, introducing the Santa Ladonna character to Vampire Survivors, who starts out with nothing but a temporary cooldown bonus, and automatically triggers a Rosary when reaching critically low HP.

For weapons, you have the new Santa Javelin, which evolves into Seraphic Cry. Starting out, the Santa Javelin aims for random enemies, can critically hit and turn the Duration stat into additional Amount for itself. In order to evolve it into the Seaphic Cry, players will need a maxed out Clover. The evolution uses Luck to deal additional damage. Picking up Rosaries while it is equipped turns them into a quadruple screen clearing explosion that will turn enemies into XP gems.

In addition to the new patch, Poncle has dropped some progress updates on a couple of topics. Cross-saves are currently in beta branches on Steam, while progress on online co-op is going well, but it’s “still too early for more details”. The developer is also working on a new feature which will allow for new Adventures, which are standalone campaigns that were introduced in previous updates. “We had planned to make new Adventures more often, but then realized that while they work very well to isolate new DLC content, the base-game ones are missing something. So we’ve been working on adding a new feature to the game (that will remain a little secret for now) after which we’ll be back releasing new adventures.”

Meanwhile, Vampire Survivors:Operation Guns will launch May 9 across PC and consoles, and will head to the PlayStation version once it’s been released.
