New Version of ‘The Sinking City’ Now Available on Steam

Published

on

The anticipated new version of Frogwares’ The Sinking City announced a few weeks back is finally here, free for all existing owners of the PC version. This new version of The Sinking City includes the bugfixes and optimizations previously released for the game on consoles.

As detailed on the Steam page in a new FAQ, this new version of The Sinking City will exist alongside the previous version of the game until February 28. The reason for this is that your old saves will not work with this updated version. Don’t worry, as Frogwares have prepared a set of saves for those who want to use the updated version of the game, but don’t want to start from scratch.

In addition, a new DLC called Merciful Madness is also available, alongside the DLCs previously released for consoles (Chicago Organ Grinder and XP Boost). Those PC owners who snagged the Necronomicon Edition of The Sinking City will get all of the DLC for free.

For those who missed out on this Lovecraftian RPG when it was released back in 2019, The Sinking City takes place in the 1920s on the East Coast of the United States. The half-submerged city of Oakmont is gripped by supernatural forces. You are Charles W. Reed, a private investigator tasked with uncovering the truth of what has possessed the city and corrupted the minds of its inhabitants. Including your own.

The Sinking City is currently available on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and the Nintendo Switch. Check out our review if you’re still undecided about purchasing the game.

Survios Announces VR Title ‘Alien: Rogue Incursion’, Coming This Year [Trailer]

Remember back in 2022 when developer Survios had announced that they were teaming up with 20th Century Games to develop a new Alien title? Well seeing as it’s Alien Day, Survios has announced their brand-new VR title, Alien: Rogue Incursion. Coming “Holiday 2024” to the PlayStation VR2, SteamVR, and Quest 3, Rogue Incursion will feature an original story that “fully surrounds players within the terrors of the Alien universe”.

Details on the game are light at the moment, but the official site describes the upcoming title as being “designed by Alien fans for Alien fans”, with Survios aiming to craft a “technically advanced, and frightfully immersive Alien virtual reality game.”

Seeing as Alien: Isolation never got official VR support when it was released, this is obviously a welcome announcement. In the meantime, if you’re keen to experience an Alien game in VR, you can always check out the fan-made mod for Alien: Isolation by Nibre_, which allows both the Steam and Epic Games Store version of Alien: Isolation to be played using the Oculus.

And speaking of Alien: Isolation, as you might expect, it’s got a hefty 80% discount going on at the moment on Steam until May 1. So if you still haven’t grabbed it after all these years, this is as good a time as any.
