‘Bloodborne Kart’ to Get Stripped of ‘Bloodborne’ Content After a Request by Sony [Video]

Well, it was going to happen, eventually. Lilith Walther‘s Bloodborne Kart as we know it is getting a makeover. Luckily, the project isn’t cancelled, but thanks to Sony, Bloodborne is out.

In a new YouTube video, Walther does the “long story short” deal explaining that Sony had contacted them to ask that the game be scrubbed of Bloodborne content. As a result, the April Fool’s Day gag come to life will have a “short delay” before being released with an altered look. “As much as I pushed for this to be ‘the meme made real’ so to speak, turning this into an original game that we have full creative control over is kind of exciting,” explained Walther.

Bloodborne Kart, which began over a year ago, was going to be your typical kart racer set inside the Soulslike’s universe, complete with a campaign mode that would have the player progress through levels (that also included boss fights) tied together with a little bit of story. The game was to feature 12 characters and 16 maps from Bloodborne, split-screen local multiplayer, and a battle mode.

Beating levels would reward the player with racer and kart unlocks, blood echoes to level up, and insight, with the amounts depending on your performance in that level. Collecting all of the insight would unlock “something special at the end.”

As for just how Walther is going to rework the game, we’ll just have to see.

Remember back in 2022 when developer Survios had announced that they were teaming up with 20th Century Games to develop a new Alien title? Well seeing as it’s Alien Day, Survios has announced their brand-new VR title, Alien: Rogue Incursion. Coming “Holiday 2024” to the PlayStation VR2, SteamVR, and Quest 3, Rogue Incursion will feature an original story that “fully surrounds players within the terrors of the Alien universe”.

Details on the game are light at the moment, but the official site describes the upcoming title as being “designed by Alien fans for Alien fans”, with Survios aiming to craft a “technically advanced, and frightfully immersive Alien virtual reality game.”

Seeing as Alien: Isolation never got official VR support when it was released, this is obviously a welcome announcement. In the meantime, if you’re keen to experience an Alien game in VR, you can always check out the fan-made mod for Alien: Isolation by Nibre_, which allows both the Steam and Epic Games Store version of Alien: Isolation to be played using the Oculus.

And speaking of Alien: Isolation, as you might expect, it’s got a hefty 80% discount going on at the moment on Steam until May 1. So if you still haven’t grabbed it after all these years, this is as good a time as any.
