‘Resident Evil 4’ Remake Sales Surpasses 6.48 Million Units

Published

The train that is the Resident Evil 4 remake keeps on chugging along. In a new FY23 Q3 Financial Results report, Capcom has revealed that the acclaimed title has now sold over 6.48 million units since December 2023.

According to the report, Capcom chalks up the sales to “ongoing promotional measures including free title updates for PlayStation VR2.” In addition, Capcom undertook “proactive promotional campaigns” that focused primarily on series title sales. The result saw the Capcom’s sales reach 26.7 million units, which exceeded last year’s 22 million units in the same period of the previous fiscal year.

Drilling down even more, that puts the Resident Evil 4 remake ever closer to entering the top 10 in terms of Capcom’s “Platinum Sales” titles, right behind Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, Street Fighter V and Devil May Cry V, the latter of which having a million units up on RE4.

It also bodes well for those hoping that Capcom will finally give fans what they’ve long wanted in a remake of Resident Evil – Code: Veronica. After all, Capcom did mention last year that they’re in the process of revisiting more titles. Plus, looking at their sales figures of the three remakes released so far, they’ve accounted for 26.5 million in sales for Capcom, with the Resident Evil series itself now standing at over 104 million units sold.

Speaking of the Resident Evil 4 remake, you can snag it now (if you haven’t already) on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series.

Remember back in 2022 when developer Survios had announced that they were teaming up with 20th Century Games to develop a new Alien title? Well seeing as it’s Alien Day, Survios has announced their brand-new VR title, Alien: Rogue Incursion. Coming “Holiday 2024” to the PlayStation VR2, SteamVR, and Quest 3, Rogue Incursion will feature an original story that “fully surrounds players within the terrors of the Alien universe”.

Details on the game are light at the moment, but the official site describes the upcoming title as being “designed by Alien fans for Alien fans”, with Survios aiming to craft a “technically advanced, and frightfully immersive Alien virtual reality game.”

Seeing as Alien: Isolation never got official VR support when it was released, this is obviously a welcome announcement. In the meantime, if you’re keen to experience an Alien game in VR, you can always check out the fan-made mod for Alien: Isolation by Nibre_, which allows both the Steam and Epic Games Store version of Alien: Isolation to be played using the Oculus.

And speaking of Alien: Isolation, as you might expect, it’s got a hefty 80% discount going on at the moment on Steam until May 1. So if you still haven’t grabbed it after all these years, this is as good a time as any.
