‘Dead Island 2’ Coming to Steam April 22; Grab ‘Dead Island: Riptide’ for Free for a Limited Time

After carving out quite the chunk of sales on the Epic Games Store and consoles upon launch, Deep Silver and Dambuster will be expanding Dead Island 2 to Steam this April. Not only that, but to celebrate Dead Island 2‘s impending arrival, Deep Silver is making Dead Island: Riptide available for free for the next 24 hours on Steam.

Dead Island 2 will arrive on Steam on April 22, and presumably the game’s first expansion in Haus will be joining it. And as mentioned, for the next 24 hours (until 9:00 AM on Thursday, February 15th, to be exact) you can snag 2016’s Dead Island: Riptide Definitive Edition for free on Steam, as well as enjoy a hefty discount on Dead Island: Definitive Edition, as well as a discount on the 2016 16-bit throwback by Empty Clip Studios in Dead Island: Retro Revenge.

Dead Island 2 places players in the shoes of one of six survivors – Amy, Bruno, Dani, Ryan, Carla, and Jacob. After finding out that you’re immune to the zombie virus (the hard way), humanity’s future is in your hands. Aided by newfound friends, including the original Dead Island’s Sam B., players must escape from HELL-A before the rest of the world succumbs to the undead plague.

Dead Island 2 is also currently available on PC via the Epic Games Store, Xbox One, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

Survios Announces VR Title ‘Alien: Rogue Incursion’, Coming This Year [Trailer]

Remember back in 2022 when developer Survios had announced that they were teaming up with 20th Century Games to develop a new Alien title? Well seeing as it’s Alien Day, Survios has announced their brand-new VR title, Alien: Rogue Incursion. Coming “Holiday 2024” to the PlayStation VR2, SteamVR, and Quest 3, Rogue Incursion will feature an original story that “fully surrounds players within the terrors of the Alien universe”.

Details on the game are light at the moment, but the official site describes the upcoming title as being “designed by Alien fans for Alien fans”, with Survios aiming to craft a “technically advanced, and frightfully immersive Alien virtual reality game.”

Seeing as Alien: Isolation never got official VR support when it was released, this is obviously a welcome announcement. In the meantime, if you’re keen to experience an Alien game in VR, you can always check out the fan-made mod for Alien: Isolation by Nibre_, which allows both the Steam and Epic Games Store version of Alien: Isolation to be played using the Oculus.

And speaking of Alien: Isolation, as you might expect, it’s got a hefty 80% discount going on at the moment on Steam until May 1. So if you still haven’t grabbed it after all these years, this is as good a time as any.
