‘Griefville: Survive the Nightmare!’ Launches on ‘Roblox’ With Chucky from ‘Child’s Play’ [Trailer]

Roblox is suddenly the place to go for horror, it seems. After Jaws and Poppy Playtime invaded the platform last week (though Saw beat them to it), it’s now Child’s Play heading to Roblox. Courtesy of developer RocketRide Games and Universal Products & Experiences, Griefville: Survive the Nightmare! is a “chilling interactive experience” inspired by the beloved horror classic films of the 80s and 90s.

Available now, Griefville: Survive the Nightmare! plans on bringing in beloved horror films on a rotating basis. Users are launched into the main town called Griefville, surrounded by creepy graveyards and haunted with nightmares that suck you into quests packed with creepy characters, often from iconic horror franchises. Players will explore an ever expanding map with future updates featuring familiar locations inspired by horror films.

“With Griefville: Survive the Nightmare!, we wanted to create an experience that taps into the shared cultural touchstone of 80s and 90s horror for older Roblox users,” said Louis-Rene Auclair, CEO of RocketRide Games. “It’s not just about jump scares; it’s about capturing the atmosphere, the tension, and the pure joy of getting lost in a classic horror flick.”

For a limited time, users can unleash Chucky’s mayhem as fans turn into the infamous serial killer himself to stalk and eliminate other users with terrifying speed or on the flip side, try to survive. Players will prep during the day and bracing for nightmare portals that open at night and transport them into unique game modes. Whether users choose to face the horrors head-on or outsmart them with stealth, every decision counts in their fight for survival.

Chucky will be integrated as a nightmare experience where users can either play as Chucky and hunt others, or as a victim running away from the madness and trying to survive. Chucky can use regular attacks or a special skill allowing the killer doll to jump on the victim’s back.

“The Chucky character is synonymous with horror, and we are so excited to participate in this killer new experience on the Roblox platform,” adds Bill Kispert, SVP & GM, Games & Digital Platforms at Universal Products & Experiences. “Bringing the iconic killer doll frighteningly to life in the game, adds an unexpected twist to Griefville: Survive the Nightmare! and further solidifies the authenticity of the classic horror vibe in the experience.”

Cult of the Lamb players will be getting more free goodies later this summer with the Unholy Alliance update. Coming August 12, the update introduces a brand new playable character in the Goat, which coincides with the game allowing local co-op.

With the Unholy Alliance update, the entire Cult of the Lamb campaign will be playable in local co-op. Players will also be able to enjoy special 2-player versions of existing mini-games, such as Fishing and Knucklebones, as well as choose from a selection of weapons, tarot cards, curses, and corrupted relics as your cooperative crusades progress.

The Lamb and Goat can also swap weapons, deal extra damage when fighting back to back, and even deliver a critical hit when their attacks are in sync. Good news for those who prefer to stay alone in their corner: they will be able to benefit from various new powers.

In addition to the addition of cooperative play, the Unholy Alliance expansion adds several tarot cards, relics, buildings, fleeces, character traits and quests, as well as the addition of new secrets to discover.

More information on the update will be released as the launch date creeps closer. Cult of The Lamb is available now on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and the Nintendo Switch.
