Dark Atmospheric Shooter ‘Children of the Sun’ Arrives April 9 on PC [Trailer]

If you checked out last month’s notable offerings during Steam Next Fest, we covered René Rother‘s atmospheric ballistic puzzler Children of the Sun. Rother and publisher Devolver Digital have announced that the game will arrive on Steam on April 9. The demo is still very much available on Children of the Sun‘s Steam page for you to “try before you buy”.

In Children of the Sun, you play as THE GIRL, who grew up brainwashed by THE CULT. Now free from their control, you now wage a war of vengeance against THE CULT and their enigmatic messiah, THE LEADER. Along the way you’ll unravel the dark truth about this mysterious order and the atrocities committed by them in the name of their master.

Described as “a psychedelic road trip of revenge”, Children of the Sun isn’t your typical shooter. A blend of sniping and puzzle solving, you can only fire one bullet per level. However, thanks to your telekinetic powers, THE GIRL can bend her single shot, re-aiming it to curve around obstacles and into the heads of cultists, accelerate to break through armor, and more to really make that one crucial shot count.

Replayable by design, there are multiple solutions to each level, encouraging creativity and experimentation. Completing the mechanic is a satisfying scoring system that rewards accuracy and efficiency. You can then check the online leaderboards to see how you stack up against your friends and the rest of the world
