‘Evil Dead: The Game’ – Developers Announce Double XP & Soul Points FOREVER… Starting NOW!

Just over one year after the Deadite-slaying began, the developers of Evil Dead: The Game made the unfortunate announcement this past September that no new content will be created for the game. Additionally, a planned Nintendo Switch version of the game was scrapped.

The good news? The servers are still staying up “for the foreseeable future,” a promise the team has doubled down on here in early 2024. And more good news has arrived today…

The team announced, “Great news for our stalwart Survivors and dedicated Demons: you’ll earn Double XP & Soul Points in all game modes starting today until… until when? FOREVER! As our thank you to the players, Double XP & Soul Points are now switched on permanently.”

So hop on there, slay some Deadites, and get double the points for all matches… FOREVER!

An asymmetrical multiplayer, Evil Dead: The Game officially launched in May 2022. From Boss Team Games and Saber Interactive, the game features single-player and co-op gameplay, billed as the ultimate Evil Dead experience in the world of video games.

Several characters from the movies and TV series were playable in the game at launch, along with four different versions of Deadite-slaying horror hero Ash Williams.

Post-launch content released into last year included new survivors, including characters from the 2013 remake, as well as an additional map based on Army of Darkness. It had been a while, however, since we got any new content for the game, this despite the return of the franchise to the big screen last year with box office hit Evil Dead Rise. The writing was on the walls.

In the game, “Work together as a team of four survivors, exploring, looting, crafting, managing your fear, and finding key artifacts to seal the breach between worlds. Or take control of the powerful Kandarian Demon to hunt Ash and his friends while possessing Deadites, the environment, and even the survivors themselves as you seek to swallow their souls.”

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.

Upcoming “Unholy Alliance” Update for ‘Cult of the Lamb’ Adds Local Co-op and More [Teaser]

Cult of the Lamb players will be getting more free goodies later this summer with the Unholy Alliance update. Coming August 12, the update introduces a brand new playable character in the Goat, which coincides with the game allowing local co-op.

With the Unholy Alliance update, the entire Cult of the Lamb campaign will be playable in local co-op. Players will also be able to enjoy special 2-player versions of existing mini-games, such as Fishing and Knucklebones, as well as choose from a selection of weapons, tarot cards, curses, and corrupted relics as your cooperative crusades progress.

The Lamb and Goat can also swap weapons, deal extra damage when fighting back to back, and even deliver a critical hit when their attacks are in sync. Good news for those who prefer to stay alone in their corner: they will be able to benefit from various new powers.

In addition to the addition of cooperative play, the Unholy Alliance expansion adds several tarot cards, relics, buildings, fleeces, character traits and quests, as well as the addition of new secrets to discover.

More information on the update will be released as the launch date creeps closer. Cult of The Lamb is available now on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and the Nintendo Switch.
