On the heels of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire hitting theatres over the weekend, IllFonic have announced their plans for Year 2 DLC content for Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed. And as expected, that includes new tie-in content for Frozen Empire.

Per the press release, IllFonic has planned four major DLC releases throughout 2024 for Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed. The first is the tie-in content for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. Fans will get to try their hand at taking down Garraka, master of the Death Chill. Or, if they prefer, fans can play the heavy themselves and plunge the world into a new ice age. The free DLC will also include more Ghostbuster gear, including proton packs and suits.

Future DLCs will also include a 40th Anniversary announcement, a return of a fan favorite that may or may not be from Ghostbusters II, a bounty challenge, and more. Each DLC will focus on gameplay, a ghost, and team gear/gadgets.

“We have been so focused on building an immersive world, one fans would recognize and appreciate,” stated Jared Gerritzen, Chief Creative Officer at IllFonic.”Our goal now is to double down on the feel. As a long-time Ghostbusters fan, I want to feel immersed. Our drive for DLC year two: heighten the fun, heighten the experience.”

Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is available now on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, the Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Remember back in 2022 when developer Survios had announced that they were teaming up with 20th Century Games to develop a new Alien title? Well seeing as it’s Alien Day, Survios has announced their brand-new VR title, Alien: Rogue Incursion. Coming “Holiday 2024” to the PlayStation VR2, SteamVR, and Quest 3, Rogue Incursion will feature an original story that “fully surrounds players within the terrors of the Alien universe”.

Details on the game are light at the moment, but the official site describes the upcoming title as being “designed by Alien fans for Alien fans”, with Survios aiming to craft a “technically advanced, and frightfully immersive Alien virtual reality game.”

Seeing as Alien: Isolation never got official VR support when it was released, this is obviously a welcome announcement. In the meantime, if you’re keen to experience an Alien game in VR, you can always check out the fan-made mod for Alien: Isolation by Nibre_, which allows both the Steam and Epic Games Store version of Alien: Isolation to be played using the Oculus.

And speaking of Alien: Isolation, as you might expect, it’s got a hefty 80% discount going on at the moment on Steam until May 1. So if you still haven’t grabbed it after all these years, this is as good a time as any.
