Episode 1 of Ruggero Deodato’s ‘Cannibal Tales’ Arrives May 7 on Steam, Console Release Planned “This Summer” [Trailer]

While it’s not the March release that Fantastico Studio was hoping for with Episode 1 of Cannibal Tales, those looking to sink their teeth into the game will be able to do so next month! The developer has announced that Episode 1 will be released on May 7 on Steam.

And no, it’s no coincidence that the game is being released on the birthday of the late Cannibal Holocaust director (and writer for Cannibal Tales) Ruggero Deodato. The team explains in the update that the date was chosen “in celebration and tribute” of Deodato, who would be turning 85 next month.

Fantastico Studio also revealed that there is a console release in the works for Cannibal Tales “this summer”. The overall plan for the game is for the second episode to be released in Winter 2024, and will “conclude beautifully” with the third episode, which will be a “3D survival horror adventure that will test your courage and wits.”

The developer has been collaborating with Troglobytes Games for pre-production for the third episode, with the goal to complete development “by 2025.”

From a script penned by Deodato, Cannibal Tales’ first episode, “The Interview”, sees a journalist named Helena determined to get a scoop that will allow her to become a partner at the newspaper. To do so, Helena decides to pursue a mystery surrounding Noah, a young survivor of metropolitan cannibal known as Price.

Aiming to unravel the connection between the two of them, and understand why Noah was spared, Helena presses for an interview. During the interview, the player’s morality will be put to the test as the line between good and evil grows increasingly blurred.

Cult of the Lamb players will be getting more free goodies later this summer with the Unholy Alliance update. Coming August 12, the update introduces a brand new playable character in the Goat, which coincides with the game allowing local co-op.

With the Unholy Alliance update, the entire Cult of the Lamb campaign will be playable in local co-op. Players will also be able to enjoy special 2-player versions of existing mini-games, such as Fishing and Knucklebones, as well as choose from a selection of weapons, tarot cards, curses, and corrupted relics as your cooperative crusades progress.

The Lamb and Goat can also swap weapons, deal extra damage when fighting back to back, and even deliver a critical hit when their attacks are in sync. Good news for those who prefer to stay alone in their corner: they will be able to benefit from various new powers.

In addition to the addition of cooperative play, the Unholy Alliance expansion adds several tarot cards, relics, buildings, fleeces, character traits and quests, as well as the addition of new secrets to discover.

More information on the update will be released as the launch date creeps closer. Cult of The Lamb is available now on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and the Nintendo Switch.
