Brutalize and Dismember Your Opponents in Upcoming Dystopian Racer ‘DeathSprint 66’ [Trailer]

Published

on

We all miss that unique vehicular mayhem that Carmageddon brought us. Fret not, as Sumo Digital and publisher Secret Mode are looking to give fans of that particular brand of carnage a boost with their upcoming title, DeathSprint 66. Rather than having players running over civilians in souped-up cars, the game has you as the vehicle, dishing out dismemberment to your fellow racers.

A spin on The Running Man and Rollerball, DeathSprint 66 takes place in 2066, where humans have abandoned the big cities. Luckily, the Bachman Media Network has taken advantage of this, building up a series of deadly racetracks designed to entertain the masses with DEATHSPRINT. The concept sees eight participants race their Clone Jockey (with an endless supply of clones at their disposal) in a battle of brutality and dismemberment. Of course, to to make things even more interesting, the tracks are filled with deadly booby traps, traversals and opportunities to take out your rivals in the goriest way possible.

However, winning is not enough. Entertaining the audience on track leads to bigger rewards off it. Your Fame score is a measure of how attractive you are to sponsors, with the higher the score, the more interested they’ll be, unlocking a greater variety of cosmetics for your runner.

Obviously, the trailer doesn’t show much in the way of gameplay. However, the devs are working hard over the next two months to develop and showcase DeathSprint 66‘s the gore system in action, as well as preparing for a gameplay reveal in June. DeathSprint 66 is currently aiming for a release later this year on Steam.

Cult of the Lamb players will be getting more free goodies later this summer with the Unholy Alliance update. Coming August 12, the update introduces a brand new playable character in the Goat, which coincides with the game allowing local co-op.

With the Unholy Alliance update, the entire Cult of the Lamb campaign will be playable in local co-op. Players will also be able to enjoy special 2-player versions of existing mini-games, such as Fishing and Knucklebones, as well as choose from a selection of weapons, tarot cards, curses, and corrupted relics as your cooperative crusades progress.

The Lamb and Goat can also swap weapons, deal extra damage when fighting back to back, and even deliver a critical hit when their attacks are in sync. Good news for those who prefer to stay alone in their corner: they will be able to benefit from various new powers.

In addition to the addition of cooperative play, the Unholy Alliance expansion adds several tarot cards, relics, buildings, fleeces, character traits and quests, as well as the addition of new secrets to discover.

More information on the update will be released as the launch date creeps closer. Cult of The Lamb is available now on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and the Nintendo Switch.
