Update 1.5 Arrives for ‘Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night’ Starting May 9; New DLC Announced

Published

on

ArtPlay and 505 Games have announced the final update for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will arrive on PC via Steam and GOG, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on May 9, while Switch users will be getting it on May 16. Version 1.5 will add two new game modes “Chaos Mode” and “Versus Mode” (which were hinted at last year) and one free cosmetic pack. There will also be three premium DLC cosmetic packs launching alongside the update.

Both new modes add local and online co-op play to Bloodstained, allowing players to team up with a friend or be matched with other players on the same system. Sadly, no cross-platform play will be included.

Chaos Mode adds a survival mode where players must fight through a series of randomized rooms to defeat demons and bosses. Completing challenges before each boss will grant players powerful upgrades.

Meanwhile, Versus Mode pits players against one another, where they will enter a room and have successive waves of demons attacking them. Defeating the demons will grant you souls, which can be spent at the central statue (shop) to upgrade your weapons, armor or items. You will also be able to purchase attacks that will negatively affect your opponent, such as reversing their controls or filling their room with fog. The player who survives the longest wins.

More details on each game mode will be revealed when they go live.

And just because Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will be getting its final update this month doesn’t mean that the DLC will end. ArtPlay has also teased a premium DLC pack is also being developed, entitled Classic Mode II: Dominique’s Curse. This DLC will continue the same retro-gameplay as the previous Classic Mode DLC, but with a bigger map and its own storyline. More info on this will be revealed at a later date.

Endless Mode Available Now in New Update for ‘Life Eater’

Published

on

Fans of Strange Scaffold and publisher Frosty Pop’s apocalyptic Life Eater have another reason to keep coming back to the game, as the much-anticipated Endless Mode is available now. Best of all, it’s a free update!

The new endless mode gives Life Eater players an arena to determine how long they can evade capture while delaying the end of the world. Collect score points called ZEAL by building an airtight procedure around your sacrifices, investigate the lives of countless procedurally generated kidnapping targets, and survive as long as possible in your personal gauntlet of nightmares.

“We’re so excited to expand the playtime of Life Eater with a uniquely dark and intriguing systemic experience,” says Strange Scaffold founder Xalavier Nelson Jr. “You really just terrorize an entire city of people over the span of decades, now, and I can only hope that I don’t come to regret writing that sentence in a press release.”

For those not in the know, Life Eater (check out Aaron’s review here) is a horror fantasy kidnapping simulator where you play as a druid living in suburbia. You serve a dark entity by abducting and sacrificing specific but vaguely described humans every year to stop the apocalypse. Use a unique video editing-inspired interface to discover the intimate lives of your victims, one schedule block at a time. When the time is right, abduct them before authorities find out.

You can snag a copy of Life Eater on Steam.
