Episode 1 of Horror Visual Novel ‘Cannibal Tales’ Available Now on Steam

Published

on

The big day has finally arrived for Fantastico Studio and Cannibal Tales, as Episode 1 of the horror visual novel is now available on Steam. As mentioned on the Cannibal Tales Steam page, Episode 1 is only the “beginning of a larger journey” for the team, as two episodes are set for release in 2025, culminating in a 3D Survival Horror game in 2026.

The release of Episode 1 coincides with the birthday of Cannibal Holocaust director Ruggero Deodato, who also penned the script for Cannibal Tales. “We’re deeply sorry we couldn’t share this moment with the master Ruggero Deodato, but we believe releasing the game on his birthday is a fitting tribute to him.”

In addition to working on the additional episodes, Fantastico Studio is in the process of bringing Cannibal Tales to the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5, as well as localization into other languages.

Cannibal Tales’ first episode, “The Interview”, sees a journalist named Helena determined to get a scoop that will allow her to become a partner at the newspaper. To do so, Helena decides to pursue a mystery surrounding Noah, a young survivor of metropolitan cannibal known as Price.

Aiming to unravel the connection between the two of them, and understand why Noah was spared, Helena presses for an interview. During the interview, the player’s morality will be put to the test as the line between good and evil grows increasingly blurred.

Cult of the Lamb players will be getting more free goodies later this summer with the Unholy Alliance update. Coming August 12, the update introduces a brand new playable character in the Goat, which coincides with the game allowing local co-op.

With the Unholy Alliance update, the entire Cult of the Lamb campaign will be playable in local co-op. Players will also be able to enjoy special 2-player versions of existing mini-games, such as Fishing and Knucklebones, as well as choose from a selection of weapons, tarot cards, curses, and corrupted relics as your cooperative crusades progress.

The Lamb and Goat can also swap weapons, deal extra damage when fighting back to back, and even deliver a critical hit when their attacks are in sync. Good news for those who prefer to stay alone in their corner: they will be able to benefit from various new powers.

In addition to the addition of cooperative play, the Unholy Alliance expansion adds several tarot cards, relics, buildings, fleeces, character traits and quests, as well as the addition of new secrets to discover.

More information on the update will be released as the launch date creeps closer. Cult of The Lamb is available now on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and the Nintendo Switch.
