Co-op Sci-Fi Horror FPS ‘Ripout’ Exits Early Access on May 28

Published

In what seems like an eternity, 3D Realms and Pet Project Games will finally be bringing their co-op sci-fi horror title Ripout out of Early Access. The FPS (which we checked out while last year while still in Early Access) will be leaving the service and launching in full on Steam on May 28.

The 1.0 release of Ripout will include eight new levels to traverse, the brand-new Kill Zone objective type where players must eliminate a specific number of enemies at a certain section of the level, as well as a variety of balancing and quality-of-life updates, including cloud saves.

Ripout is set in the 22nd Century, when humanity has reached beyond Earth to conquer the solar system. An interplanetary revolution for humanity has begun, but has quickly turned disastrous. This new expansion was greeted with new threats, as Alien forces emerged and threatened this new golden age. Desperate to find a way to keep them at bay, humanity developed a cell that regenerated soldiers’ tissue at superhuman speeds. But the cell turned sentient, causing those soldiers to transform into gruesome and bloodthirsty mutants.

With humanity’s saviour now fast becoming their downfall, you are one of the soldiers deployed using the latest in biotech weaponry to deal with the mutants. You must use your trusty biomechanical Pet Gun to gain a tactical advantage over your enemies by ripping weaponry off them while exploring procedurally generated derelict spaceships, collecting loot, and customizing your character to survive whatever dangers lurk around the corner.

No word yet on when the PlayStation and Xbox Series versions of Ripout will be released.

Upcoming “Unholy Alliance” Update for ‘Cult of the Lamb’ Adds Local Co-op and More [Teaser]

Published

Cult of the Lamb players will be getting more free goodies later this summer with the Unholy Alliance update. Coming August 12, the update introduces a brand new playable character in the Goat, which coincides with the game allowing local co-op.

With the Unholy Alliance update, the entire Cult of the Lamb campaign will be playable in local co-op. Players will also be able to enjoy special 2-player versions of existing mini-games, such as Fishing and Knucklebones, as well as choose from a selection of weapons, tarot cards, curses, and corrupted relics as your cooperative crusades progress.

The Lamb and Goat can also swap weapons, deal extra damage when fighting back to back, and even deliver a critical hit when their attacks are in sync. Good news for those who prefer to stay alone in their corner: they will be able to benefit from various new powers.

In addition to the addition of cooperative play, the Unholy Alliance expansion adds several tarot cards, relics, buildings, fleeces, character traits and quests, as well as the addition of new secrets to discover.

More information on the update will be released as the launch date creeps closer. Cult of The Lamb is available now on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and the Nintendo Switch.
