Nintendo Releases Mysterious “Smiling Man” Teaser [Watch]
Nintendo has gone the creepy route with a cryptic new video that, well, doesn’t explain a whole lot. Published across their regional social media accounts, the video is entitled “Emio,” while the Japanese version of the video is titled “The Smiling Man.”
The 15-second video (which is now age restricted) carries an ESRB rating of Mature, featuring various shots of a man in a trenchcoat wearing a paper bag on his head that sports a smiley face. The Japanese kanji that appears at the end is the aforementioned “Smiling Man.” The only description for the video is “#WhoIsEmioVisit”.
Making things even more interesting is that the Japanese version of the video leads to this teaser site. Staying on the teaser site has the man changing the paper bag for a split second for an alternate smiley face. Other than that, we’re stumped.
Nintendo has obviously tried to shed its image as being predominantly kid friendly in the past, so whatever this next title is, we’re all for it.

If you were wondering just where Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy was all this time, you won’t have to wait much longer. Publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Asobo Studio have announced via a new trailer that the game will launch for the Xbox Series, Day One with Xbox Game Pass, as well as PlayStation 5 and Steam on August 27.
