Dark Fantasy Adventure Title ‘Bye Sweet Carole’ Pushed to 2025

Published

on

Despite the tease of the pre-alpha footage last August, Little Sewing Machine has announced that their dark fantasy adventure title Bye Sweet Carole won’t be making its 2024 release. The developer announced that the game is being pushed to 2025, with releases on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

“We’ve been working hard to deliver a beautiful and emotional game, but as anyone who has made a game before knows, it’s no easy task,” reads the update. “This is why we’ve made the tough decision to move Bye Sweet Carole‘s release to 2025. This will give us the proper time to continue improving the quality of the gameplay and art that made you fall in love with the project in the first place.”

It’s not all bad, as the developer did list off the various updates being made to the game in the announcement. That includes enhanced lighting effects, cutscene and gameplay reworks and more.

Created by Chris Darril, creator and director of Remothered series, Bye Sweet Carole focuses on Lana Benton. Urged by the terrifying Mr. Kyn, also known as “Old Hat,” Lana finds herself catapulted into a mysterious enchanted garden to deal with menacing and disturbing creatures. After discovering a number of letters from a certain “French,” Lana decides to follow the last known trail of Carole Simmons, a girl of the same age who apparently escaped from Bunny Hall, an orphanage in the nineteenth century. The building is now infested by colony of wild rabbits that are able to open a dimensional portal to the realm of Corolla.

Bloody Body Horror Revealed in ‘Stellar Blade: Blood Rain’, Currently in Development [Trailer]

Shift Up has shifted things dramatically from 2024’s action-adventure game Stellar Blade, offering up a body horror bonanza in the newly announced sequel, Stellar Blade: Blood Rain. The sequel is currently early in development, but if the trailer is any indication, players will be in for plenty of body horror.

Continuing the story from the original Stellar Blade, Blood Rain will star a new protagonist named Eve. Earth has been abandoned, and what is left of humanity has fled to a Colony in outer space.

Shift Up had mentioned during a Q&A following its latest earnings presentation last month that development on Blood Rain (which was still unannounced at the time) was progressing smoothly, and was on track to meet their targeted quality standards.

Shift Up stated that with this new title it would be transitioning to a first-party service model, effectively moving away from the restrictions the game experienced with original publisher Sony, which had the game under an exclusivity agreement for the PlayStation 5. “This will allow us to lead marketing strategies that fully reflect the distinctive identity of the Stellar Blade IP, and we expect to communicate the unique appeal of its universe to players more directly and effectively.”

Whether this means that Xbox Players will finally be able to play the original game (or its sequel) is still not clear. Meanwhile, Stellar Blade is reportedly being ported to the Nintendo Switch 2, but no official confirmation has been made.
