‘Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition’ Receives Final Update [Video]

Published

With Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake coming up fast, where does that leave the fan-developed Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition? Well, the team behind the modding project has just released their tenth, and ultimately final, update for the project, which adds a bunch of new graphical enhancements in what the team calls “the biggest and most exciting update ever”.

As detailed in the video below, this update introduces enhanced environmental assets, restored flashlight reflections, improved water visuals, true 60 fps FMVs and more. Regarding this being the last update for the project, the team states that this update “was planned by our own volition to be our final update for two years now”, and has nothing to do with the upcoming remake. The team further elaborated on this with on a post on X, where they laid out their reasons for this being the final update to the mod.

“After working on the project for nearly seven years, we are satisfied with everything we wanted to develop and ultimately achieved for the game,” reads the post. “Thank you all for being a part of this remarkable journey with us. We on the Enhanced Edition team are incredibly happy and fulfilled with how Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition turned out, and are equally excited for Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake to carry on that spark and passion for the Silent Hill series in the years ahead!”

To get in on the fun, once again, you’ll need a copy of either the North American or European “Director’s Cut” of Silent Hill 2 on PC. You can then follow the instructions to install the mod from the team’s website.

Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake will launch for PC via Steam and the PlayStation 5.

I Did Not Buy This Ticket developer Tiago Rech has teamed up with DANGEN Entertainment to publish his upcoming psychological horror adventure game I SHALL NAME THE DEAD. The game is scheduled to release on PC via Steam in “early 2027”, with more details being revealed later this year.

The story for I SHALL NAME THE DEAD centers around a lone cemetery amidst the Metropolis, where The Nameless Dead cannot be buried. Their remains pile up in mass. Robbed of their identities, they remain in limbo, no grave, no dignity. You are a woman named Imaculada, who has been cursed with the Worm gnawing at her insides. You must speak to the dead and uncover their forgotten names before the Worm consumes her.

Featuring art by Lirio Ninotchka, the art director of I DID NOT BUY THIS TICKET, players will explore the the cemetery, the City within the City. You’ll interact with its denizens and unique sepulchral art, investigating clues left by the dead, uncovering their names, and naming them so they can finally be cremated.

All the while, you must deal with the Worm, which will overtake your words. You must burn matches to purify your dialogue choices, or allow him to get ever closer.
