With the second season of Squid Game on the way, Netflix took the opportunity during The Game Awards to let fans know that you won’t need Netflix subscription for their upcoming mobile game tie-in, Squid Game: Unleashed, as they will be making it available for free! However, you’ll need to be quick, as it’ll only be free for a limited time.
Revealed alongside a teaser for Season 2, Unleashed releases on mobile on December 17, and will be available to download for free on Android and iOS. You can pre-register to download the game from the official site.
Described as the “definitive Squid Game video game,” Squid Game: Unleashed is being developed by Boss Fight Entertainment, and is a party royale game that sees players participate in a 32-player battle royale in the series of challenges as seen in the show. As you win, you earn money in the game to customize your avatar, while advancing through increasingly difficult challenges as you progress in the tournament.
Players will be able to battle online against each other in Squid Game: Unleashed without any ads or in-app purchases. Of course, after the free-to-play period ends, players will need an active Netflix subscription to access the game.
Squid Game Season 2 will premiere December 26, 2024 on Netflix, with the final season of the hit series premiering later in 2025.
