Following in the footsteps of 10 Chambers’ GTFO, LNJ Studio has announced their own co-op extraction horror title in The Abyss Break. Set for a 2026 release on Steam, the game is described as a “hardcore” first-person co-op FPS, where you and your team venture into dangerous parallel worlds born from the Abyss.
While the story has yet to fully be revealed, The Abyss Break sees you and your team visiting parallel worlds bound by a shared catastrophe in what’s referred to as the Great Expansion. The people in your world failed to stop the threat of the Great Expansion, but you have a chance to change the fate of your own reality. You know how to enter foreign worlds — and return. Cut off from outside support, you must rely on an underground residential complex and its inhabitants — scavenging and trading valuable resources, taking on contracts, and fighting for survival.
The Abyss Break sees you and up to two other players venture into these parallel worlds to gather resources and escape. Your team must combine stealth, combat, and resource gathering to withstand relentless threats. The worlds you venture into react to your actions. Things like footsteps, open doors, and missing resources won’t go unnoticed by the inhabitants. Couple that with dynamic weather, a day/night cycle, and detailed environments, every mission feels unpredictable and immersive.
To combat threats, you’re given full control over how you arrange your pouches, armor plates, and support gear. You can also customize your weapons with attachments like suppressors, magazines, sights, and more to suit your playstyle. But remember, rushing blindly might attract too much attention.
