Battle Monstrous Experiments in Cold War Horror FPS ‘Shadow Project’ [Trailer]
Orphic Studios has officially announced Shadow Project, a cinematic, story-driven tactical FPS set in during the Cold War. Currently in development for PC via Steam, Shadow Project is aiming for a release later this year. The announcement trailer offers up glimpses of gunplay, while also showcasing the gorgeous environments that you’ll be exploring on your mission.
Shadow Project is set in the late 1980s, during the heightened tensions of the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United States. You are part of a team that is tasked with infiltrating the Soviet Union and taking down a series of Soviet military installations that are suspected of being involved with inhuman experimentation, referred to as Shadow Project by US intelligence. The experiments have subjected all forms of life to a series of tortuous trials, resulting in monstrous creations that should not be.
Featuring environments that have been designed for an immersive sim design, you must explore every corner of every location for supplies as you not only face Soviet opposition, but soon encounter the results of Shadow Project itself. Luckily, you can get your Solid Snake on by finding different ways to fight, stealthily sneak to avoid said fights, or find a secret shortcut to avoid danger altogether.

Get a Taste of the Action-Packed Terror in the Demo for FPS Shooter ‘BLIGHTEN’ [Trailer]
For those itching for some throwback first-person shooter action, Blight Software has just had a demo released for their upcoming FPS BLIGHTEN. The demo sees you and your squad selected to eliminate the last rebels in the eastern wastes, only to have your slaughtered, and you trapped in a decaying research facility. And you’re not alone.
You’ll explore every room of the facility for resources and weapons in an effort to stay alive. Luckily, you’ll have an extensive arsenal of various firearms at your disposal, from shotguns to assault rifles.
You’ll need them in order to take down the various blight-ridden mutated horrors throughout the mega structure. As one would expect, you’ll need to scrounge for parts and ammo, so make every shot count.
Similar to what players experienced in the early PlayStation classic Alien Trilogy, BLIGHTEN sports hand-drawn enemy sprites and animation in a 3D retro world, creating a unique and dynamic atmosphere while still scratching that throwback itch.
It’s all wrapped up in a dark narrative, where an unseen evil lurks in the shadows of the facility, shaping the horrors around you as you descend deeper into the facility. As you navigate this industrial nightmare, every Blightened creature slain is a grim reminder to what you’ve lost — and the things you’re fighting for.
Look for BLIGHTEN later this year on Steam.
