‘Resident Evil Requiem’ Surpasses 8 Million Units Sold; ‘Resident Evil 2’ Remake Now Highest-Selling in Franchise
Capcom once again updated fans on their sales figures via their new quarterly report. And to no one’s surprise, Resident Evil Requiem continues to rake in the sales, having now crossed the 8 million units sold mark across the Nintendo Switch 2, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Series. This all comes after the game reached 7 million units sold just three months ago.
In even bigger news, Resident Evil 5, which has sold just over 19 million across various incarnations, is no longer the best selling entry in the series. That title now belongs to 2019’s Resident Evil 2 remake, which has now moved 19.75 million copies across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
It gets only more crowded when you look at the numbers of other entries: Resident Evil 7: biohazard currently sits at 18.41 million, while Resident Evil 6 has hit 17.60 million units. 2023’s Resident Evil 4 remake isn’t far behind with 16.04 million, while Resident Evil Village is at 15.86 million units. And while it’s considered a “miss” compared to the other remakes, 2020’s Resident Evil 3 remake is still at a respectable 14.52 million units.
Devil May Cry V, which was already the highest-selling entry in the franchise, has apparently seen a boost in sales thanks to the second season of the Netflix series and last month’s launch on the Switch 2, having now hit 14. 24 million units.
Meanwhile, we can look forward to Zach Cregger‘s violent take on the franchise with his Resident Evil film, which is set for a September 16 release.
