Latest ‘Cthulhu’s Reach: Devil Reef’ Update Adds Much-Requested Map Editor

Published

on

Not even a month after the last update that introduced the Flamethrower into the game, The Fine Arc has released another update for Cthulhu’s Reach: Devil Reef, this time adding a Map Editor with Mod Browser Integration. The game is also enjoying a 15% discount on Steam through June 9.

The addition of the Map Editor allows players to create custom maps using assets from the first two acts of the game. That includes enemies, weapons, pickups, and more. And thanks to the Mod Browser Integration, you’re also able to download creations from other players. The Map Editor is still “experimental,” so you can expect more updates as the team smooths out the rougher edges.

Last update’s Flamethrower has seen a rebalancing, making it “more vicious and chaotic” to use. As a result, it now burns through fuel faster. Incantations have also been rebalanced for “deeper strategic decision-making.”

The blood system has also seen a rework, with new splat decals, persistent gore, and “more juice, more style.”

And of course, the update also includes various bugfixes. You can read the patch notes for the update here.

Still to come in Early Access for Cthulhu’s Reach: Devil Reef is the game’s final act, which will have a new weapon, as well as new enemies and the game’s final boss.

Unearth an Ancient God in Cosmic Horror Game ‘The Old Flesh of Nuraga’; Demo Available Now [Trailer]

Fans of Studio Ortica’s previous work (they made Loan Shark and Birds Watching, in case you didn’t know) will be happy to see that the developer has revealed their latest title, The Old Flesh of Nuraga, which is slated to arrive on PC via Steam on August 7. Currently, you can enjoy the demo for the game during Steam Next Fest.

Drawing on the mythology and material culture of Nuragic Sardinia to construct its distinct flavor of cosmic horror, The Old Flesh of Nuraga is a brief first-person atmospheric horror title set on a dying desert island. When Cinera’s grandpa became too weak to keep pace, he was left to die. She stayed with him, since blood ties are stronger than thirst.

However, blood ties won’t feed you. While searching for food using an ancient bell, Cinera discovers that the two of them are standing on the lost holy palace of a forgotten god: the god that her grandpa used to worship. Now Cinera’s grandpa wants her to unearth ancient relics, convinced they will allow him to save everyone. But as you dig deeper, her grampa’s madness starts spreading like sand.

Not only that, but in your quest to unearth these relics, you soon summon something that probably should have stayed buried.
