Dark Fantasy Survival Horror Title ‘BECROWNED’ Tasks You With Choice [Trailer]

Published

on

Not waiting for Summer Game Fest on Friday, Labyrinth of the Demon King‘s publisher Top Hat Studios has announced another Survival Horror title in BECROWNED on Day 1 of IGN’s Summer of Gaming event. The announcement was accompanied by the debut of a brand new trailer, introducing the world and premise of the game.

Inspired by both Silent Hill as well as classic horror films, BECROWNED is a surreal survival horror adventure that mixes traditional survival horror gameplay with a unique narrative direction and in-game cinematography. You take on the role of Richard Torrance, a man of rational and unbreakable character who’s rational and cold-blooded. Richard strives to shape the world to his liking. However, despite his efforts, he has never achieved what he truly desires – happiness. You must uncover the mysteries of his past to find out what led him to this world of tragedy.

Mixing unorthodox dark fantasy with modern industrial horror in a surreal, David Lynch-esque manner, BECROWNED draws on philosophical themes of love, family, and more. Explore a vast castle and its surroundings while discovering hidden passages and optional puzzles. Battle a variety of enemies, each requiring a unique fighting strategy, and defeat challenging bosses.

You will also face countless choices, each impacting the fates of others imprisoned in this world. Will you spare a repentant killer? Will you risk your resources to save a random martyr from a gruesome death? You will suffer the consequences. How you proceed will lead to one of the game’s multiple endings.

If you’re itching to dive in, there’s a demo available on Steam.
