‘Cronos: The New Dawn’ Dev Diary Dives Deep Into Combat [Video]
Last week Bloober Team showed off some good ol’ fashioned body horror with the Gameplay Showcase trailer for Cronos: The New Dawn. And now, the team has released a new developer diary that offers an in-depth look at how combat works in the game, which also conveniently revolves around The Merge mechanic.
For those who aren’t in the know, enemies in Cronos: The New Dawn known as Orphans can absorb nearby corpses to transform mid-battle into deadlier forms, gaining new abilities and dramatically shifting the flow of combat in real time. As a result, this mechanic makes tactical decision-making and spatial awareness absolutely critical in order to survive.
Along with revealing how enemy Merging alters combat strategy and enemy behavior in the game, the dev diary talks about how players must master the flow of battle by preventing Merges through smart positioning and weapon choice. The video also covers the different types of Orphans you’ll encounter, and how to counter each type effectively.
Set in two eras: the decaying future and 1980s Poland, Cronos: The New Dawn plunges players into a world inspired by the real Krakow district – Nowa Huta, where survival means bending time itself. You play as a Traveler, an agent of the mysterious Collective, emerging from a dystopian future to dive back into time and extract people before they perish in the apocalypse. As you explore a world on the brink of annihilation, you’ll encounter grotesque enemies known as the Orphans.
Cronos: The New Dawn launches fall 2025 for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series.

Explore a Mysterious Island for Lost Riches in Co-Op Horror Adventure ‘Treasure Cove’ [Trailer]
Not to be confused with the 1992 educational sidescroller, Team5 has revealed the Steam page for its upcoming co-op title, Treasure Cove. Launching later this fall, this survival horror title sees you and your friends set out to explore a mysterious island in search of lost treasures. Of course, it’s never than simple, as exploring the island reveals more than you or your friends were expecting.
Details are still to come on the gameplay loop, but the basics for Treasure Cove have you and your squad navigating the island with a map and proximity voice chat in classic treasure-hunting style, with various gadgets to assist you in your search. Once you think you’ve found the spot, you start digging, and if you’ve read the map correctly, you’re rewarded with riches.
But as you might expect, digging up the treasure, extracting it and making it back to your boat isn’t so simple. Creatures are lurking in the darkness, and once they spot you, you’re on the run. Your only way of defense is to use your light, but even then, when you’re lugging around cursed treasure, you’re not safe for long. You and your team will need to keep quiet in order to avoid detection and survive.
If you do make it out alive, you can sell your treasures and buy better equipment for the next hunt.
Currently, the devteam is planning to have a playtest in the future, for which you can head over to the official site to sign up for the mailing list for when it arrives.
