Survival Horror Adventure Title ‘Cult of Blood’ Announced; Demo Available Now on Steam [Trailer]

Another title that was part of The Horror Game Awards Halloween Showcase, independent studio Dusty Box has officially revealed Cult of Blood, a Survival Horror adventure title that blends cinematic storytelling and brutal combat. Currently in development, Cult of Blood will launch on PC via Steam, PlayStation and Xbox next year. A demo is also available on Steam.

Accompanying the announcement is new trailer that teases its gothic environments, as well blending cinematic cutscenes with typical Survival Horror tropes in limited ammo, resource management and fixed camera angles. The game will also sport classic-inspired tank controls and modern refinements for aiming and dodging.

Inspired by a true story but reimagined with supernatural horror, the narrative for Cult of Blood explores the eternal fight between light and darkness, good and evil.

The story sees players take on the role of a police officer sent to investigate unsettling reports of vampire sightings, uncovering a village seemingly frozen in time and cut off from the outside world. What begins as routine quickly spirals into horror with a cult devoted to a priestess seeking to ascend as a goddess. The villagers are not vampires, but humans stripped of their souls and enslaved to the cult’s will. Your fate is clear: kill the cult and their queen, or become a servant of the blood.

As mentioned, thanks to the classic tank controls, movement is deliberate and tense, while combat involves risky melee combined with limited ammunition, resulting in enemies swarming you and turning every fight into a desperate struggle. Luckily, you can even the odds, by collecting blood souls to unlock new gear or upgrade weapons. You’ll still need to manage supplies carefully to endure.

“With Cult of Blood, we wanted to revive the suffocating tension of classic survival horror, where every corner hides danger and every decision could be your last,” said Angelo Axiotis, co-founder of Dusty Box. “This isn’t just a fight for survival, it’s a descent into a nightmare where you’re the key to a cult’s dark ascension.”

During the Future Games Show, Bandai Namco and Supermassive have announced the first DLC for Little Nightmares III in “The Backstage”. Featuring new puzzles and challenges, this additional content will take players to the darkest part of the Carnevale, where they’ll meet a new character and face new perils. You won’t have to wait long to get it, either, as Little Nightmares III – The Backstage DLC will release on June 12.

In this new adventure, Low will meet Dime, a new child who wears a torch hat, which turns out to be a very helpful tool for finding their way in what lies beneath the curtains of The Carnevale. The two children will have to face new threats and use their light to find a way to save Alone from the hands of the Puppeteer.

In the original game, players meet Low and Alone, who are trapped within the Spiral, a cluster of disturbing places. The two will have to work together to survive in a dangerous world full of delusions. As they scamper and shelter on their journey to escape the grasp of an even greater threat, their senses may also lead them astray into the shadows.

Little Nightmares III is currently available for PC via SteamXbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
