New Invasion Mode Coming to ‘The Outlast Trials’ October 21 [Trailer]
Part of the slew of trailers revealed at IGN Fan Fest yesterday, Red Barrels has revealed Invasion Mode for The Outlast Trials. Launching October 21st, Invasion Mode is centrepiece of the upcoming major update in Season 4, and allows players to enter the Trials of their fellow Reagents, disguising themselves as Imposters and wielding brutally effective knives to sabotage and slay their opponents.
You are not your brother’s keepers: you are your father’s children. And a father gains the trust of his children by trusting them himself. That’s why the ever-gracious Easterman has provided his beloved children with the tools they need to truly sympathize with one another: knives, security cameras, and disguises made of human flesh. After all, sometimes you have to hurt the ones you love to help them get better…
Accessed via the Sleep Room Terminals, the new Invasion Mode allows players to join as either a Reagent or an Imposter. Only a limited number of Imposters can invade any given Trial, but while the others wait, they can be the eyes and ears of their murderous teammates. Each Imposter will get a chance to invade the Trial, as their peers succeed in their sabotage, or die trying.
Other features included in the upcoming major update for The Outlast Trials include the Geister 2025 New Time-Limited Event and Time-Limited Catalog, two new MK-Challenges (Beguile the Children and Investigate the Minotaur), and the debut of the new In-Game Store.
The Outlast Trials is available on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation, and Xbox.

‘State of Decay 3’ to See Release Next Year; PS5 Version Added [Trailer]
The story that is State of Decay 3 finally appears to be nearing its conclusion. After stating earlier this year that the game was still very much in development, publisher Xbox Game Studios and developer Undead Labs have announced that the game will be launching on PlayStation 5 (which was announced during the Xbox Games Showcase), Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store in 2027.
In addition to the announcement, Undead Labs revealed a brand new trailer, giving players the first-ever look at gameplay for State of Decay 3.
According to Undead Labs’ Creative Director Kevin Patzelt, the team has already had playtesters on an Alpha version of the game, who are “having a blast.” The devteam plans on expanding the Alpha and then Beta list over time for players to come play. “We’ve got an audience that’s hungry for this game, the signups were fantastic, they’re going to keep growing and we want to get more.”
To do so, players can sign up for the waitlist to participate at the State of Decay 3 Playtest website. The first wave of playtests will be limited, but the team plans on sharing insights and feedback with everyone as they go, with more opportunities to participate “throughout the year.”
Set years after a zombie apocalypse nearly wiped out humankind, in State of Decay 3, you play as a community of survivors who must carve out a life for yourselve in a world gripped by a blood plague. Build up your settlements with friends, and destroy zombies.
It’s your story, and you must make tough decisions about where to live, what to build, and who to recruit into your community. Permadeath is an ever-present danger to your community, and every risk must be weighed against the reward.
