Escape a Soviet Facility in Psychological Horror Game ‘Dread Eagle’ [Trailer]

Published

on

More Soviet horror gaming is headed your way later this year with Tarba Paul Cornel and Abdul Rafy’s psychological horror title Dread Eagle. Launching in Early Access on Steam, the game sees you (or you and your friends) trapped in a secret Romanian facility, where you must uncover some disturbing truths about what’s gone on in the facility, and face what remains of the test subjects.

Blending psychological horror and competitive mechanics with unsettling narrative themes, Dread Eagle is set in Unitatea 91-C, and places players at the center of a brutal Soviet experiment led by Sebastian Dobrev. As the facility slowly collapses under the weight of its past, players must explore its depths, and make it out alive.

Dread Eagle offers up a singleplayer campaign and competitive multiplayer modes, including 1v1 and 2v2 gameplay. In the latter, each round begins with a twisted form of Russian roulette, where players are linked to a shared gas system and one pump determines the outcome. Losing the gamble does not mean instant death, but instead sends the defeated player into an execution chamber.

The winning player must carry out the execution while surviving environmental hazards and unpredictable threats. Meanwhile, the defeated player returns as a hostile entity, actively attempting to stop the execution and protect their former body, turning every round into a tense psychological confrontation.

Per the developers, the game will remain in Early Access “for as long as it needs,” with the plan to add new levels, challenges, enemies, perks, and deeper customization over time. In addition to new content, the game will receive tweaks to improve balance, performance, and stability in order to “deliver a richer, more polished experience at full release.”

Horror Mystery Visual Novel ‘Scarlet Hollow’ Receives Expansion of First Five Chapters

Published

on

Black Tabby Games has dropped a little update on the progress for Scarlet Hollow, announcing that writing work on their planned expansion to the game’s first five episodes has finished, with the team pivoting to the art. Testing for the update is set to begin in “about a couple of weeks,” though if you’re a Patreon member, you can get early access to it.

The update adds around 70,000 words of new and remastered content, with most of it expanding some of the shorter sections. The update also tweaks certain aspects of gameplay, as well as adding more dialogue (obviously) between characters, and even revamps one of the endings to the fifth episode.

The team also confirmed that writing for Episode 6 is well underway, though no release date has been announced.

Currently in Early Access on Steam, Scarlet Hollow is an immersive horror-mystery with sharp writing, impactful choices, and meticulously hand-drawn art. What was supposed to be a quiet getaway in the rural mountains of North Carolina to meet your long-lost cousin and comfort her through her mother’s funeral, has turned into a nightmare of cryptids and other supernatural horrors. You only have to survive a week. But can you get to the bottom of these mysteries haunting Scarlet Hollow before they claim your life?
